You guys do know that kites are meant to be used in the water right????

I forgot to mention a massive inguinal Hernia from the raley from Hell in cold weather conditions. For 12 months I had about a pound of my lowerr intestine would drop down into my nutsack on the right which made kiting a little uncomfortable, especially getting slammed with it all hanin down there body first OW!

The Doc who cut me also does all the West Coast Eagles Players and said I had the biggest Hernia he had ever done.

So glad to have had it fixed! Even so, Some of your stories are making me cringe, especially Damo, what the hell are you doing man?

Great thread! Good winds,

A mate of mine who should remain nameless blew his ring out at the Mambo last year. It was slightly alcohol related but I understand he was kiting just before the massive spew that brought on the roid herniage? Sorry Kung Fu, I only said "should" remain nameless.

I was told by the surgeon this morning that I can no longer kite this year or I'll rip my arm out of its socket again (I've been off since my accident at Woodies in October). And I worked out that the only way I can pay for the next three months of physio (had 2 months already), the operation, and whatever physio I need after that is to sell my kites. Even with private health cover, it still hurts a lot. One thing I have to look forward to is that I'll have new 07 gear when I'm back into it.

I get a recurring neck injury, its almost like I am getting whip lash from being pulled out of the water too quickly when water starting.

I think that it is my technique or perhaps the bar is too far from my body so I am reaching to far with my arms while looking up. Does anyone get anything similar?

Blamed my dull aching pain on a nasty wipe out and it went away, went again last week, neck pain came back, then went away, tried to go yesterday very underpowered and neck pain back again today.

Dunno whats causing it dunno why, but yep i get it too.

AAAhhhh!

This may be the cause of my recent stiff neck! Kitesurfing!

I was looking for all sorts of reasons...

Could it be a virus amongst kitesurfers or something?

I try and take things pretty easy these days. My most memorable was breaking my neck. That was sooooo close. But I'm still here walking around and kiting. How lucky is that? Since then I've been ripped along the beach with a bad launch and that was the one which really upset my nerves. Watch out when your launching guys.
