Just got an e-newsletter from Sailing Australia. ISAF has of last friday officially sanctioned our beloved sport as a sailing sport for national and international comps in 5 disciplines, being freestyle, wave, course racing, long dist racing and speed trials.

It also looks like they are going to accept the 50+ kt kite speed achieved in namibia as the sailing world speed record....to be confirmed.

National and international rankings online ,yacht club organized events, seriously big corporate sponsors.......maybe even Olympics in the future ?????

This will be a massive boost to our public cred and possibly help sustain our beach access. This is awesome, I'm so stoked.

Check out www.internationalkiteboarding.org

cheers

world speed record
Still to be confirmed

Support from Australia, Japan, New Zealand, USA, Europe, and More showing that Kitesurfers / Windsurfers around the world agree that the ISAF is wrong and should follow the recommendations of the WSSRC

Even Dave White the Former UK Record holder (windsurfer) thinks its ridiculous and I Quote:- Records should be challenged on the water, not in the courts.

So if it makes the ISAF uneasy good

There's a quote from the guy that pilots sail rocket (UK based sail craft going for record) saying the kite record it sould be rectified.

Side note - he now holds the class B (?) record now, and went airborn (10m off the water) flipped the craft over and it disintigrated

Great news!

Sail rocket dude in action breaking his boat.
Its a mega weird boat, technically interesting, but very far removed from any sort of recognisable sailboat. I think his craft is the thing that should be challenged in the courts!! (if anyone could be bothered)

Good to hear

IKA was in talks to have this happen (as where a lot of other people), but it's good to see they hit the ground running.
