If they have changed the policy, then technically it's not a renewal, as you're signing up for a different policy. Bl%dy insurance companies... grr.

Makes me think of the claim on some products you buy at the supermarket: New and Improved! Which one is it?! If it's New, there was nothing like it before and thus it can't be an Improvement. If it's an Improvement then there was already something before it to improve upon and thus it can't be New. Ouch, my head hurts.
