Hy all,

I've been kiting for a couple of seasons now, and am a bit stuck in the skills progression area. I'd love to go to some clininc where they watch your technique going into tricks and suggest ways to improve it, maybe even with video playback like when you're learning to skydive.

I know you can go away to some exotic island, but why bother when you live in one of the bst spots in the world for it

Anyone have any suggesetions, or maybe chip in for some group lessons?

Hi Durks,

I will be running the odd intermediate clinics throughout the summer open to our customers for Free. These will be afternoon sessions for a few hours and will be once the weather and winds warm up to a more consistent level. Location will be decided to best suit the discipline.

I plan on doing a couple of surf clinics, race clinics and of course freestyle clinics where you will be able to demo discipline specific equipment also. These events and details will be posted on our FB page.

Keen to do an intermediate flatwater (kinda not sure where to go after powered backrolls). Also a beginner/intermediate surf clinic.

Just add kiteloops to everything Eg.
Back loop+kiteloop
Front loop+kiteloop
Huge S**T you pants air+kiteloop

Unhook everything you do... Do a massive downwinder and unhook the whole thing... After a few sessions you will learn many things about your kite flying skills, your technique, self rescue and most importantly that deep heat was sent here from the gods... enjoy....
P.S JR, what the **** is a backloop or front loop?

just ask someone at your local who's doing stuff you want to learn. most of the time you find pretty decent riders don't mind giving tips and watching you for a couple of minutes at a time and giving you pointers on what to practice. In that circumstance it's a bit more fun IMO and you can get them to show you how it's done seeing as they will most likely be kiting at the time as well.

what about unhooked backrolls to toe side and then unhooked backrolls with a frontside 360 and then pass the bar after you land

So I just do a back roll kite loop, no worries. Piece of cake yeah..
Tried it a few times; first in cocos .. Till i couldnt feel my ribs i was mashing into the water so hard, that encouraged me to get an impact vest (best investment ever). Then in Lano, where kite smashed into the waer so hard it literally split in two, followed by me.

Thing is, you can learn a lot faster if you can see what you're doing wrong and adjust the and then.

When I was training for skydiving, you would get signals in mid air of course to do certain tricks or improve posture, but the real value was when you got down to the ground and you could watch the video after and see.. Oh **** i wasnt arching my back, or you're legs were too far bent or whatever.

That sort of thing would be absolute gold for progressioon of intermediate kiters.. There's got to be a market for something like that....
