Poor old Gasman
I ruptured a disc in the garden a few months ago ...... but now I'm paying the price for an amazing pre season kiting, with juicy bits of disc squirting out into places only my spinal nerves should be.

Minimum 2 months off the water and an uncertain future .........
walking the dog in the sea breeze just doesn't swing it for me. And to top it off, we're finally going to get daylight savings!!!!

Anyone need a kite bitch?
Anyone want to donate their spine ...... promise I'll look after it

Anyone got a gun so I can blow my ****en brains out?

Spewin about your spine gasman, I'm just doing an assignment on internal disc disruption, sounds nasty. May I suggest becoming a photographer or taking some movies? If I injured myself again this summer I would definately do that sort of stuff.

Bummer Gasman,

I always figure my next sport would be Paragliding, anyone seen the Ozone promotional DVD of their stunt teams hard at it??? OMG!

It's low impact .... well mostly, and if you do have a major impact, then you wont have anything further to worry about.

Good winds, I hope you get good news,

How bad is the rupture? What are they going to do to fix it?

I had a prolapsed L4/5 in 1992 and had a laminectomy to correct it. I can't wear a waist harness because it hurts, so I use a Dakine Fusion seat, which seems to be fine (been kiting since ~2003).

I've just discovered I have 2 bulging discs at L3/4 and L4/5 (as well as some other degenerative stuff at L5/S1), so I'm doing physio now to try to fix the loss of mobility at those levels. I'm hoping I don't have to stay off the water....I've already been told I shouldn't run or mountain bike anymore

Take up a new hobby. Get a camera and waterproof camera casing and get amongst it all! Get some awesome shots and psych yourself up for when you are ready to kite again!

You will kite again, and better than ever.

Temporary setback, a bummer.

No more gardening, no more picking up things (except kites of course),and no vacuming either.

Sounds similar to what I had 10 years ago.........thought it was the end of the world. Key hole surgery, some back strengthening excercises and then slowly slowly it all comes back. And you know what, I still get tiggles every once in a while when I do something stupid, but some good boosts makes it all better....got to have soft landings though.

Get well man.....and see a good doctor. The fella that fixed me is a bit far away, but what a genius.
