I am still in the learning phase of kitesurfing and on Saturday I went out in the morning. It was quite gusty and I found my kite a little hard to control. I got dragged around a few times and when coming back to shore I realised that the depower on the 5th line was all the way out. If I pulled this in would it have helped depower the kite and give me more control?

Hey Xfox,

Yeah if your 5th line was pulled in, you would have changed the attack of your kite, which meant you would have had 'de power'!
Having your 5th all the way out - depending on the kite - means you may have had a fully powered kite! pulling it in a little may have made for a better kiting experience!

What kite and winds etc were you in?

Yo Bo:
yeah I def had too much power, which I couldn't control.
Ive a 10m HIR kite and was in Easterly winds about 20 knots.

Normaly the kite lacks power around 15 knot winds

Sounds like all you needed to do was pull in your de-power strap and you would have been cruising!

Have a play with it next time you're our to get an idea of what you have, also check the connection points on the kite, you mite have a little more (i.e. different pigtail knots) to play with.

Cheers.
