What winds can I expect?

Hey Parafin,

As Vader said, the beaches are HUGE there s probably around 250M between the first dine and the water.

The sand is hard-packed and perfect for landboarding if you're keen for that. Watch the beach you go to for the wind direction, Farnborough (spelling?) to the surf club in town are pretty good as there's nothing stopping the wind, but if you head south a couple of beaches there is a HUGE Rock that throws an enormous wind shadow and this can be dodgy on a North Easter as the wind can get turbulant as hell.

Sorry, when it comes to the issue of July winds I'm at a loss, only been there to visit the old man around chrissy/new year's

Chances of wind here in July are about none and buckleys, although the occassional westerly may come through - nothing like taking a chance. The Keppel islands should stop you from going all the way to south america.

Best launching for you teabaggers in anything south to south east is from the sailing club all the way north (10km) to top of Farnborough Beach. I don't think you can expect any northerlies this time of year although we have had some unseasonal southerlies lately.

BTW - Yeppoon is pretty spectacular around July for non-wind reliant tourists.
