For my first couple of jumps, in medium wind I pretty much rode edging normally, sent it to 12 pretty aggressively, got launched , and then came down pretty much with no intention of landing it (pretty much a bomb keeping the kite directly overhead). This this did 2 things:
1st - It got rid of the fear factor. This was as big as it was going to get.
2nd - It allowed me to feel stage 1 without worrying about worrying about stage 2.
After doing this a couple of times it was then a natural evolution to just pull my front hand and send the kite back down into the powerzone. Keep facing the beach (assuming on shore winds), ride away.
P.S. Dont practice in too light winds as light wind jumping is actually harder!
