Yesterday I flew the Ozone edge 13m and it went fantastic. I have flown a few newer kites but have never tried one that jumps so smooth and flies so high. Has anyone had a go of this kite and knows of something that jumps better?

Try the edge 11 in 25+ knots. But don't forget the goulies.

I've got a 7m Edge. At first I thought it was a cranky little **** bit now I love it. Fast, huge hang time, very forgiving, rock solid on gusty Botany Bay. My favourite kite

I love the es for jumping, or better put, gliding! The Sport actually boosts about as high as the Edge, but is far more aggressive in the upwards acceleration. The Edge is so silky smooth on the way up you tend not to notice how high you are, all you notice is the hangtime and the gentle landings.

I reckon the Edge is much more like gliding than kiting. Hosh is right, we had him out on the 11m Edge II in 30+ knots and he was boosting HUGE! and from memory he had pulled in about 2-3 linches of trim.

Can't wait for a windy day to get my altitude fix!

Luke, i sold you my 06 sonic, then i bought an 07 sonic cause i couldn't find anything that jumped higher........ until i flew the edge 2. i have recently bought an 11m Edge 2, one of the only ones up here on the coast, and the kite is a jumping machine man - you've seen me kite and know what i liked about the sonic - well the edge is another step up dude. the 13m would be sweet for your weight from 13-25 knots i'd reckon, you may want to invest in a 9m for high wind days too. they are truly awesome things. you can come try my 11m (green one, there's only one up here on the coast that i know of so it'll likely be me on the water) if you want, to see how the bottom end is on it. hit me up if you see me on the beach man.

I took my 11mtr Edge away on holiday recently and I was a little worried the wind would be to strong for it. Darren assured me it would be fine.
He wasn't kidding, 31kts one day and it was super stable and cruising. Didn't even feel overpowered. Boy does that thing jump.
All the other kiters were on 7's and couldn't believe the size of my kite. The things a machine.
Come on summer.

Luke, talk to Mike at kitethrills at currimundi - that's where i got mine from. He may have a few in-store for you to demo as well, but as mentioned before you can come and fly my 11 any time there's enough wind. at your weight you'd need 15 knots solid before it got you up and going. Mine is like the only one on the sunny coast that i know of, so hit me up if you're around. Awesome kite, it had to be good for me to upgrade from the sonics!

i think the 11m edge 2 has another 2-3 knots bottom end on my 07 sonic, which i thought was excellent

you need to know the edge well before you can get the most out of it though, it's such a highly tuned piece of kit that minor trimming adjustments make such a huge difference in marginal wind conditions. because it's flat, high aspect and so efficient (thinnest leading edge ever?) it has an excellent bottom end, despite other reports that i have read around the place i think it probably has one of the biggest usable wind ranges of any kite i've ever used.

for me at 63kg i can get going in 11-12 knots with no current assistance, and i have held the thing in 27 knot gusts without any real concerns

the difference in the edge is that the wind range is in the kite's trim, NOT in the bar throw. using the depower trim will enable a massive usable wind range, but you won't get that "100% depower" just in the bar throw like some other kites. definately not a kite for a beginner, but for an intermediate rider wanting massive performance? hard to beat........

I'm 95kg and find they like to be well powered to jump properly, that is jumping over 5m and gliding around 5sec. The 13m really starts to work for me over 20 knots and the 9m is a weapon in 35kn, esp down here in the roaring 40's.

No other kite i've flown glides like this kite does, perhaps others have been as high (a lot of C kites) but nothing else has given me that crazy flying feeling this kite does.

I love getting up high and swinging the thing to my right, then left, then right and sort of coming into to land like some kind of freaky bird. Punchy gusty winds will extend the hang often putting you back in the elevator and sending you on the way up to the impenetrable sphincter level
