This morning I went out. One of the first in at Altona today. It was ok. But I felt like I had to work it pretty hard to keep going. And I wasn't sure if this was due to my level of skill or the wind. Or both.

Anyhow, this afternoon at about 5. Man! I thought that it might have been a bit too windy. I was about to pump up, then thought better of it and asked the kiting instructors that were set up what they thought. 100Kg, 12m kite -- What's your experience? Well, I have been kiting since mid November. I didn't say -- For about a week and a half before I went overseas for 6 weeks. Been out a couple of times since I've been back.

I thought I'd give it a go. If I was overpowered, I'd come in, no worries.

I didn't come in for an hour and a half. It was awesome!! So many things clicked today. I was in the groove. Fangin it going left. Super fangin it going right, especially when I got closer to the pier.

When I turned around, I didn't have to stop and walk out because I had gone too far down wind. And my starts were better.

The bit that I really loved was leaning right against the kite, almost parallel to the water. Looking back and seeing the spray fanning out from the board. And if I wanted to go faster, I'd just pull the bar in a pchow, I was off like a rocket.

I even managed a few jumps! I have no idea how high I went. I could only see the water falling away from me. And I'd be going, Wahoo! Yippee! And then SPLAT! A few times my kite also went splat, but for the most of it I managed to keep the kite up in the air!

Only almost lost my board once.

And before I get flamed, when I did all the jumping -- or trying anything new really, I made sure that there was no one around.

And when I came in, I couldn't stop smiling. Very awesome!

And the best thing, there were only 3 other guys out!

Cheers

It was an awesome afternoon. I was at Port Melbourne, 2-3 kites out, nice little waves, quite powered, and all cred to my mates who lent me various kites since i blew my leading edge a week ago. I had a go on the OR One, EH Ripper and the LF Havoc, such light bar pressure on the Havoc, the Ripper is Ripper, turns fast and is very stable and the One seems to fly like my waroo....

Great session, thanks friends, thanks wind, yippee

Good stuff. That session when everything clicks was one of my best to. No more kite in water for ages, no more lost board, no more walk of shame, no more tangles when kite is recoverd. All sooooo good.

Good on ya mate just my second session today i too was wondering if i could cope with 20+ knots

Anyway all went good and for the first time this newbie did not get water up his nose or loop the kite and get smashed (last time i went out a big bunch of weed got onto one of my steering lines and when my mate launched me i got thrown and smashed after a few loops)

I think i spotted you fella's down at Port Melb this afternoon when i was down at St.K. Ended up doing a bit of a big jaunt out into the bay ended up about directly off shore from you guys at one point (Red Ozone Instinct). I might have to give Port Melbourne a try next time as St.K was a little packed today!

Oh and whilst it wasnt my best session ever i did get a bit of progression in my jumping and boosting; also tried to ride toeside but can't quite get myself around and edging enough to really call it proper toeside.

Yeah mate, i saw a few guys out there, in the middle of the bay, and various kites just cruising up and down the beach.

Also of note... A Life guard pulled me over for a pleasant chat to inform me that within the yellow poles and the beach is a 5 knot zone, thats in front of the South Melb SLSC. But the sign on the beach only says towards the Club, so i assumed that between the there and the next yellow pole at the next patrolled beach was OK, because of the beach signs... He also told me that east of the Kerford St pier (the next one back towards Stkilda) was a boating zone so anything goes. Does anyone know anything about this. Cause there are more people there than where we kite.

Cheers

Nice!

Friday (4th) was my first session at St.Leonards - east of Geelong, and had an epic session too!

Good work on the little jumps Mintaro! You'll be addicted - if not already! I've only just got into the back rolls and loving them... i'd say it's a 1 in 5 ratio of landing them at the moment but hey that's one more than zero hey!
Keep up the awesome work, and let's hope for wind! - I think there is some actually! sweet!!
