The mag is a bunch of s#@t. I used to buy it all the time but not anymore. It;s always pulling off the QLD kiters and international kiters( who Gives a toss what there doing OS). Time to keep it real KBM why don't you do a peace on kitestock and other events through out Australia and the west. Do some reviews on young West Aussie riders who are ripping it up instead of the river mouth QLD guys. How many times have you done a peace on Ben Wilson, its a joke.
You have heard of planes before why don't you spread your wings and spend a while out your comfort zone and see what the rest of the country are doing for events instead of QLD and Mambo.

Later.

Way to go "specimen"

I am sure you will have no problem paying for flights over to WA for the entire KBM crew. If you don't like the mag don't buy it. If you really feel that passionately, why don't you contact the magazine, and see if can begin writing a page on WA talent.

If you feel so passionately about it, do something proactive instead of bitchin.

don't be to harsh speciman.......fair call on a few things but compared to the pommy n yanky mags, full of advertisment and bland stories of kite adventures, I think our KBM is good value.Yes some articles on the W.A scene would be great, as we all know that you guys are passionate about our beloved sport, and for such a contemporary bunch across a broad spectrum of locations and talent I think ya's should get into producing a W.A kiteing mag and show us east coasters how its done!...I personally do not buy 'the other kite mags' anymore as the online mags are the go, and the saved money in purchaseing kite mags speaks for itself....long live KBM!.....and sunnycoast kiters!

no worries rooey, i think we can pencil you in for late september but i'll have to check the schedule. by the way there are a few pissed off surfers here too after the kbm article, so don't mention that you are a kiter if you hit the pub...
there is no such thing as a cold night here but bring your women anyway, they will be well looked after

Josh, the last few comments have been made 'tongue in cheek',I hope yours is,as the locals over at X ee might not take too favourably to an invasion by east coast kiteing marauders.........be awfully nice though!

you woud think we are invading another country...... east coast people seem to have nothing against "westies" or anybody else from other countries visting the east (on the whole) , but im sensing a real bad vibe from westies about easties and anyone else really coming to the west (on seabreeze). not really the aussie spirt.

Not at all I'm actually from Sydneyand started kiting at Narrabeen in fact one of the originals back in 99/2000 on two line kites. But this is all about the Australian KBM that really doesn't represent the whole country, it seems to always focus on QLD kiters and OS and the events that go on in QLD. If they wanted more sales you would think that they would include the rest of the country a little more.

It's not about the east v west, but I must say I have never been in a place like WA where there is so much patronich to there state weather it be kiting or industry and it's so awesome to see. A state that thrives on itself .It's nice to see.

Well actually i wasn't talking about the mag at all, as you can see the topic had gone off topic a few posts back.
I was meerly commenting on the seemingly bad vibe im recieving on seabreeze about anybody who isn't from WA going to WA to kite, whether it be from the east or abroad.
WA has the biggest amount of kiteable coastline and nice steady wind out of our whole country and maybe even the world.
When you compare this to the east coast with no where near as many good places to kite and hardly anywhere near the amount of wind, fellow aussies (no matter where you come from) and friendly tourists are warmly welcomed and made to feel at home often with a lift in the car for a downwinder and perhaps even a beer to finish it off (well this is the norm at my beach anyway).
Someone please correct me and tell me that what i am seeing on here is just the vibe of a select few and that WA is not as close minded as i am thinking. Lets see some of the aussie spirt that we are loved around the world for.

p.s. i have been to WA 2 or 3 times and dont really remember such a vibe, but maybe i was just blind to the fact?

WA might as well be another country. Takes 7 years to lose your attitude and be accepted....even if you speak the lingo.

Don't think WA is in to rowdy so much....all a fun loven bunch really.

Hey sir ROWDY
Lets keep it real. I love the aussie spirit as much as the next guy and WA loves anyone coming here to kite that for sure. You're right we do have an awesome coast to kite. As I said before this is all about the mag not where you are from. I just wish the only kite mag in Oz reported on the rest of the country and not in there own backyard.

You just need someone thats willing to put some time in to report on the going on's over there, im sure if you voiced this to the mag they would be more than willing to help out and publish the content??
It is along way for one person to go, and alot of coastline for one person to cover, i just dont think that the budget would cater for that, maybe if there were a few people interested in promoting thier own spot and riders in each place there would be more coverage of WA?

just a thought, afterall it is pretty unreasonable to expect one person to cover the whole of australia and every event on such a budget.

Thankyou sir, a nice way to end a post that got a little out of hand regarding states and kiting in general.

At the end of the day we all love the sport and want to see it florishy in ANY STATE so lets keep it real, when we all share winds, lets look right and left before we jump AND TURN so we all kite together forever.

I feel so humble now

KBM is only a small mag. Pretty hard for it to be able to afford to fly over to Western Australia to 'expose' local talent. Prehaps some people from WA should stop complaining and organise something with KBM and make it happen.

PS. East coast groms are better anyway.

Rowdy and the rest of the cool brigade,

Well considering how well you represented the east coast during last (2006?) year's trip to the north west 'secret spot', why wouldn't there be a prejudice against you? Talking to the guys that run the station, they reckon that apart from a few older crew, most of the blokes were complete dicks - driving over dunes, going through station only gates, parties, disrepecting people that run the station, smashing the place up - leaving it looking like ****. Where's the respect mate?

You take an awesome place, come in with your hickesville attitude claiming that your A-class heroes, talk it up and give us a bad name (not only to the station owners, but a fair few polies). I think we're justified in having a prejudice against 'the crew'.

KBM doesn't represent me nor, for that matter, much of the kiting community.

You can smell your sense of entitlement from over here.
