I am keen to meet up with you guys !!

The message came as a pleasent surprise as we planned to be in Hawkesnest this weekend for first kiting on OZ soil, and I was not so keen to go out on my own.

Christo

PS:
Shall I just look out for where the kites are at Jimmy's?

Jimmy's is also butter flat on a NE, it is offshore but if there are not to many people with boats you can sail close to the edge, if anything goes wrong there is plenty of time to get your self out of trouble, except a very high tide as you can't stand up in alot of places.

Try doing a downwinder in a NE in the waves from the little gibber, go past the surf club, walk the kite 200 meters across the beach along the 4wd track to jimmy's, kite the flat for a while in the arvo, then kite about half way down the beach towards the carpark, land kite, packup and walk the remaining 300meters back to Jimmys beach caravan park.
You will be buggered but the next day you'll want to do it all again. 21ks without spending an 1hr or so in the flat stuff.

Jimmys is great in a noreaster - I might be up there this weekend with a friend who is visiting from NZ, and may make it as far as little gibber, or just stay at jimmys depending on wind. It's a sweet spot - can be a bit gusty in the Noreaster and you do need to be feel confident of staying upwind though...

I doubt that i can get up there this weekend but the thought of a downwinder from the little gibber to the surf club is awsome! Next time count me in.

cheers

I Live in Port Stephens, (Nelson Bay)

our local crew here have been to jimmy's several times, (we might actually be doing boat loads accross on good days from nelson bay this year. some of our new kiters actually have boats. Anyway Jimmy's Beach.. hmmm. it is awesome in anything with a bit of south. there is a mad sandspit you can jump. pretty much like usual anything either onshore, or cross onshore is awesome.

n/e can be dangerous like kiting fingal spit, if lose your edge, you get dragged into the middle of the bay quite quickly (yes i am speaking from experience) what's more is the yacaba corner is a known breeding ground for tiger sharks. i know enough fishos who have told me this.

and you can only use the 4wd track if you have a disabled sticker and beach permit. (well that's if things haven't changed since january)

anyway thats all i have to say about that..

Hey Daz, Was also thinking of heading up that way this weekend myself with a few crew from down Sydney way if I don't have to head overseas on a business trip by then. Be great to catch up with you guys for a downwinder from Big Gibber to HN Surf Club or something. Smacked into a hammerhead that was lying on the surface the last time we did that run but, hey, probably freaked him out more than me. C'est la vie. Will ring ya if we get up there. Probably camp at the Riverfront campground. Cheers, Rob kitesurfing.com.au/

Long range is going for sthly sat and NE Sun
Windguru is their usual pessimistic self No stars for Sat and SUn .(I hate to say it but they are often correct)You never know tho.
My hunch is that Sun arv should be good NE
(Don't forget to take your buggy Daz)
