Hi People.

I have a boat organised for the 1st week of November, 8 nights. Travelling from Lae to Port Moresby. The trip is at cost to fill an empty leg for the charter boat. AU$200 ea per night. The boat is very plush and the food top notch. We need min of 4 people to make it happen

The trip has been organised by local kiters to check out some spots we think have some potential. Flat water and surf. As we get around Milne Bay province and start to head back towards Port Moresby there is an opportunity to do a 3 day down winder, outer reef surf the whole way. Experienced kiters only please

November is the end of our windy season. So we expect to have our usual SE trade winds blowing. (15-20knots). If the wind drops off we are on one of the best dive live-aboard in the Pacific amongst some of the most amazing dive sites in the world , so your day wont be wasted. Plenty of deep sea fishing too if you are keen.

for flights check out. http://www.apng.com or www.airniugini.com.pg
for info on the boat www.mvgoldendawn.com

i have some pics in the kite gallery to show you what kiting is like in port moresby. a quick search on port moresby or my name will find them.

There is also an amazing cultural show on in Lae the last weekend of Oct. great opportunity to see the local dance and dress before heading out to explore the coastline.

PM me if you are interested. happy to answer any Q's in the forum too.

Sounds like a great trip Jay. Have you launched a kite from a boat before and will you be planning to? If so, you might like to consider getting a turbo launcher. Pump kite up on boat, connect lines and launch, works well and save the risk of tangling lines. Video at our website if interested. If you guys will be doing a lot of boat launches, I can run a group lesson for you guys with our boat in Brissy so you get to practice boat launching over and over again. Last you want is to get lines tangled up in the middle of the sea. Our next month's safety seminar will cover boat rescues and boat launching, but I think you will be gone by then hey. Have a fantastic trip guys.

Hi Padi

yeah we learnt how to kitesurf from a rubber duck, we had to teach ourselves to kite so we went out into the middle of the ocean to learn. So we have a lot of experience with this method of launching and recovery.

For the trip i expect it will be a mix of boat and beach launches as well as landings. we have a pretty good system in place, but next time i am south i might drop by and have a chat see how our system compares to yours. Always keen to refine the process and make it as pain free and safe as possible. We have never used the Turbo launcher, i have considered it and watched the video on your site before. If the trip proves to become a regular event we may have to take one for a demo.

20-30kts in Port Moresby the last few days Calm mornings for early surfs and howling seabreases in the arvo for kiting - doesn't get any better than that.

Pity I just got back from leave or I'd be on that for sure. That is a once in a lifetime type of trip.
