I've just seen the forecast for the first day of the KSP comp on Friday 7th in Le Morne, Mauritius.
22knots SE (it is normally a few knots higher than forecast) 4.1mtr swell with a 15 second period and SSW wave direction, which should translate to absolutely mental freight train barrels at One Eye.
I take it there will be a live stream like last year so make sure you check it out, there is sure to be carnage.

Hope they have their race boards ready for some offshore speed runs... This should be good for a laugh.

p.s. Maybe Brian Lake will take it out?

ahahhahaha, unlucky man, looks like you will have some traffic... I wouldn't worry though, I'm pretty sure the poleys just sail through the comp if it's on anyway.

Yeah just logged in it looks like they are behind schedule, it's a shame the swell is hitting it a bit to straight on and closing out (to much West in it)
Keahi and Mitu up now, but the picture is almost gone.

Looks like we are going to have to put up with your negativity of the KSP again this year hey Rowdy, why don't you just let it go, if you don't like it you don't have to watch.

Oh I'm not watching.

You're absolutely right you know... I guess some things in life you just have to deal with, unfortunately for some I'm one of them.

Some waves on the replay looked pretty solid!

Anyone care to explain the judging system. Is it best 2 waves out of 10 like WCT comps or totally different?

Totally different.
There's 2 sets of variables they are concerned with judging and quantifying.
The first is speed - The faster the better and obviously the higher score you will receive.
And the second being positioning - The further you can be from the lip without being closer to another breaking wave the higher the score you get.

After both scores are taken one is subtracted from the other and then the remainder is multiplied by the length of the chicken line you were hooked into (in cm).
Obviously this is a pretty subjective issue and many a time I have heard of protests between riders, with one claiming the other was actually trying to ride the back of the wave in-front and NOT the one he was actually being scored for.
Also now with riders being "shackled in" to their chicken lines, riders are claiming that some are being disadvantaged due to shortened length of the overall chicken line, due to a chicken loop still being attached (and thus a lower final multiplier).

p.s.
Well this is how it seemed as though it was last time I watched, correct me if I'm wrong here.

"Recommended heat times are 15 minutes (with 5 minutes transition) and a max wave count
of 15 waves, scoring the best 2 waves.
A minimum of 2 waves should be scored.
The minimum heat time should be 10 minutes."

Keahi 16.1 through over Sky 11.56.

Seems someone still a little bitter they didn't make the cut! Yet one of his 'besties' is competing, ripping and doing Australia proud

Yeah man, I'm totally distraught I didn't make the cut for something I don't want to be a part of and didn't "try out" for. :(
(You realise no one actually "trys out", or makes "the cut" right?)...

p.s.
Nice try for a first timer, but needs work.

p.p.s.
If the comp was actually in a good location, Keahi would be schooling everyone... He's too nice for his own good sometimes I think. In my opinion he should have used the money to make another sick video somewhere awesome, instead of wasting it trying to get some worthless "world title"... But hey he can do whatever he wants and I will always back him 100%. Hopefully he wins this stupid thing.

Ignore Rowdy and check out the live stream.

Keahi scored enough to beat anyone else in the 1/4's except his opponent Airton Cozzolino, so close, bad luck Keahi but top effort we know you will have heaps more opportunities over the coming years.

The conditions are getting better for the finals that will be coming up soon
Womens final will be Jalou Langeree v Ninja Bichler
Mens final Patri McLaughlin v Airton Cozzolino

Edit: Last couple of heats were great conditions but it looks like the wind is doing that late arvo drop and swing offshore thing, so event is on hold ATM.

No one spot will ever be the same. A great kite surfer should be all rounded and be able to showcase their skills in all conditions. Keahi is obviously very rounded and a talented individual (stating the obvious) but at least he's having a dig an not annoying the **** out of everyone being negative about it on a forum. I just think if it's not your cup of tea then just don't drink it!

Fair call... If it were a simple matter of someone doing their own thing (KSP) I wouldn't really have much of an issue with it.
But when another thing (PKRA wave) was destroyed and people were lied to, mislead and entrapped(PKRA riders) into helping create this new tour (KSP) I hardly think it's that simple of a matter...

I like to stand up for things. It's not my cup of tea for a number of reasons, more than just the obvious pitfalls of location selection.

Not to mention, it's alright for KSP to talk bull**** about what they consider flaws in PKRA, but no one is allowed to point out the flaws in their tour??? Seems legit...

You have the right to think however you like on the subject, I also have mine.

For a "surfing" pro tour I didn't see much surfing going on... Yanked down the line from start to finish. Thanks for highlighting my point.

Great work for all those involved - congratulations! The sport has come a long way in a short time.

Looked pretty legit to me, surfing with a kite - kitesurfing. Would rate that last video as high as some surfing world tour snippets I've seen, though why compare 2 different sports?
