Or are you attempting to get free content for you Magazine

What a remarkably interesting business model...you have a "limited budget" for some articles & photos, you will take free photos & stories/"contributions" from the good folk "promoting our sport", and one must assume that you also take dollars from paid advertisements? And then sell your magazine to the rest of the kiting & general community.

Would I be correct to assume that those "contributions" all help you to make a profit??

You are a humphrey...better to have a mag than not at all...besides printing a magazine is not 100% profit...if you wanted to make serious $$ you wouldnt start a business or company in kiting..theres always someone on here worried about someone making a $$..if kiting is your passion/job you deserve like any other dickwad to make some cash to feed your wifes shoe fetish..I dont go to the doctor wait one hour with sick people and then go and smash my doctor for making 200k a year. IT IS What it is. Probably the crew who do deserve to get paid are the Photogs who have invested allot of time and cash into equipment.

There's nothing wrong with anyone attempting to make a dollar from this sport - there are certainly numerous skinny European chaps travelling around Australia each summer trying to steal Australian women and teach the locals how to kite... so why shouldn't an up & coming magazine publlisher also turn his hand at making a dollar from the sport - if Rupert Murdoch can do it (publishing that is, not kiting), why shouldn't someone else give it a nudge I say?

I was purely making the observation that the business model they are relying on is a particularly clever model - you give me your photo/story for free, I'll publish it, acknowledge you gave it to me to use, and I'll then go make money from it. It's capitalism at it's finest DANEgerous, nothing at all wrong with that!!!

I was merely highlighting the commercial nouse this guy is using - to say nothing of the transperancy of the business model.

I don't disagree and I am no accountant but I reckon if they paid a little bit and organised it with people in a professional way that the tax man likes then said kiters might be able claim some expenses for trying to earn an income and then maybe more stories and articles would magicly appear in the inbox, just maybe

It is expensive to travel to the far reaches of the globe in search of wind just to get a few good shots and spend countless hours at the keyboard, just ask Beaver
