slave i agree you should have a right to a choice of 1pump or not, but u gotta look at it from a manufacturers POV, there's a very good reason ppl want single point inflation; as stated in the thousand replies.
why would any of the manufacturers build a kite with 17 valves when all their competition has tried, tested, researched and PROVED SPI?
you have to agree that technological progression is driven by consumer (majority) demand.
and the car thing is the perfect example. yeah carby's 'were' easier and less technical and i spose u could say reliable in some cases but there's a very good reason you can't buy a car with one now.
please tell me why a manufacturer would consider producing a product that would only be bought by a small minority?

Mr Slave, have you made your own kite yet? I would have thought you have the equipment and the technology to do so. If not, why not?

Well from an amateur like me to a craftsman like yourself who makes custom poleboards,
I find that shopping for kites online is a lot easier than cutting and sewing dacron in the tin-shed.
But if I ever did build a kite, it would never be a one-pump.
*wink

Just got out of the garage after three hours wrestling one of these ba$tard things

From a post in the Gear Reviews section it seems the following kites are offered as multi inflation:

North Vegas
Best Kahoona
Wainman (all of them I suppose)

So I will be selecting from the above after yet another session ruined by a one pump system today.

I love some of the comments on this thread:

'No mate I don't want any choice, not me, I am a steak & chips man. Every restaurant I go to I have steak & chips, never have nuffink else mate, never eat nowhere that don't have steak & chips mate, I just love the same $hit dished up to on a daily basis me mate. I hate choice, it confuses me'.

Right-on, junglist. ^^^
What's so wrong about customers having a choice ?
Why would folks argue against having an alternative ?
Maybe these same folks would prefer that all kites come in the same colour.
How about beige ?
By the way junglist, I fly Kahoonas.

Nothing wrong with that slave, the point is I dont think (insert brand here) will make 5000 kites one pump and only 3 multi pump for the manority few that like old school.
Just the way it is, they are out to make money, like any bussiness.

What are the problems you are having with one pump.????
Have been flying the same one pump(alot) for close to 2 years, not one problem,,touch wood.
But dont get me started on pulleys

Maybe you should fly a doona, no pump inflation points

Waimans, kahoonas have 3-4 struts and therefore hardly any extra time anyway. Theres always gonna be choice if thats the main reason to pick one model after another.
99% of one-pump kites are totally maintenance free, yet some give you grief. If one transfer valve is leaking here's the only way to fix it properly first time.
get a spray bottle and fill it up with water and add some detergent.
cut off all cable ties, and replace with medium ties not the small ones.pull hard with pliers and cut off right at the end.
pump the kite up as much as it can tolerate.
spray all valves and check for bubbles.
Most kites where one transfer valve is crappy usually means the whole kite is crap as it was cable tie by the same dude, fix them all.

When did multi-pump inflation become old-school ? ^^^
lol.
Wainman stuff and Kahoonas are cutting-edge surf kites, man.
The spaghetti plumbing hanging off your 2 year old bag-of-sh1t is freaking old-school.
haaha

One of the locals here has a waiman rabbit, only 6month old, couldnt remove the pump from the inlet on the strut with out phsssssssssst. The oneway bit of crap to stop the air from escaping was shot already,
While my 2 year old spaghetti was still going strong. The rabbit is an awsome kite, just needs to catch up on the inflation system.
So you think if a kite is over 1year old its a bag of sh!t??????
So now your supporting buying the latest greatest kite each year because they must be so much better than last years(you beleive the shopguys hype?)????
Then you should be all for the one-pump then.
he he haaaaaa haway too easy.

I bet when video machines came out you bought a beta, and stood by it right till the end. ua ha heeeee ha haa

^^^^^^dude, hes not supporting new kites at all, thes saying kites with multi inflation are not old school, they are current models so multipoint is not obsolete. Both Waimans and the kahoona are cutting edge wave kites and are as light as possible. Being 3 strut and 4 strut isnt an issue anyway.

BTW tell your mate not to leave the little delflaters in the valves.....problem solved

boom boom

the donkey relaunches well, but if you invert it your screwed.
It dosent come with one pump either, but the 2011 donkey,I think they are calling it the Hellshetland, is going to be one pump.
It is reported to have 100% depower, trucks upwind, gives you massive pop, drift back well and it has the build quality you have come to love.Oh and will boost you to heaven with massive hang time and has wind range of 10 to 30 knots.
I think I have read to many reveiws written by(buy) the people who make the kites.

Well, I guess this thread settles it hey ?
One-pump is the greatest invention since the cable-tie.
... Which is kind of funny cause one-pump sure utilizes a lot of little nasty cable-ties.
And one-pump is the greatest time-saving idea since the big f#ck-off pump replaced the little toy handpump.
So how much precious time is saved with one-pump ?
How many goddamn seconds is it again ?
