Ive come up with this idea, you see i dig kitesurfing and i play paintball as much as i can...

So here is my idea of a possible new sport, Im calling it kite ball. At the moment im throwing around a few ideas on how it could work, firstly 2 kiters could chase each other until one hits the other or have a shooter on a jet ski either fixed or chasing while the kiter tries to dodge, jump or deflect with board (railey? flip?).

Now for everyone out there thinking this is just danger, danger, danger well so is crossing the road, but of coarse we can do our best to be safe im thinking full face mask, observe who has right of way etc.

Well i might just had too many beers tonight but if you got any feedback good or bad or want to give it a blast we'll see what we can work out

I reckon forget the paintball, just use big sticks, when someone comes close try and smash them in the head far more fun.

Then when on the forum in the evening you could share the blood, gore and physical injuries with the rest of the world.

It might just end up being a way to get rid of the unwanted kiters....

Great Zulu, we are almost neighbours....I will come with a team. There must be strickt rules about distances from kites though, but that is the only problem I can see at the moment.

Are the "bulletts" biodegradable?

Yeah Bro,

All paintball paint is FULLY biodegradable, the stuff i use will not even stain white clothes, and i fully agree about safety distances i may be nutty but im not a fruit cake...

hahah sounds awsome.. im keen paint ball rules.. but where i live NE QLD it gets way hot running around in the sun.. in the water it would rule

only problem do the guns work when wet?
and refilling ammo would be hard while steering a kite

No great thought needed re rules.
just think of Polo
2 goals, one is Nanga, the other Denham ....... only 50 km apart
Sorry lurch, you're shooting upwind Matee

how big a kite do you think I'd need for the average horse??

we often throw various flotsam and jetsam at each other kiting. Tennis balls, flippers, fruit etc.

The other game of course is the "hey let's high five" sucker play, which results in the poor sod downwind copping a tonne of spray. As far as I know the only way out for the downwind guy is either a) run away further downwind or b) chuck a backloop to block the spray with your board and hopefully not hit the other kiter with your board...

any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Yeah guys
i know a guy at my local who brought his spud gun down to "test" its range and with a few mods it could fire paint, and as 4 team sizes im thinking keep it small for starters, the hoppers hold 200 rounds so you wont have to reload to often.

What about we start with one on one and with experience grow to groups.

Half the fun will be watching anyway, so having teams waiting around would be no problem; and we would need less equipment to start Do you think the local paint-ball supplier would sponser the event by providing the gear? We could pay them in DVD royalties.

Wierd idea, but nice

Hey guys,

Problems solved, i own a 913cc 2 stroke 3 seater jet ski so it will have no trouble keeping up with us and i work for bunbury paintball as a ref so i did a bit of sweet talking the other day, he said the markers SHOULD be fine in salt water but the local cops have to be notified, other wise u can be charged with shooting a firearm in public and a string of other things so if the cops and the boss is happy.... GAME ON

Sheeeeeeeeeeet after seen your photo at www.seabreeze.com.au/gallery/gallery.asp?imageid=830

I better put an intimidating shot of myself up....some call me "cannon man".

Big Question: will the paint balls puncture the kites? Perhaps this should be tested on some old kite first.

but wouldn't it be more likely to puncture an old frapped out kite?

I was thinking games like kill of the hill where you have take out anyone trying to get in a zone by colliding with them dragging their board away ect... best thing about this game is the opposition can be anyone, can play anytime, even if their not willing

LMFAO - we play king of the hill at kurnell all the time. It's easy to be the king if you can stay upwind with 10m tacks and ALWAYS stay in the flat water just behind the rock groynes. [}:)]

some other ideas

Chicken

People on opposite tacks go as fast as they can directly at each other until one person avoids collision, person who holds his line is the winner.

Wrestling

People duel it out into the air attempting to pin the opponents kite into the water by either pulling his quick release, steering his kite into the water or by colliding with it.

Hi guys
still waiting to catch up with cops and boss been working shift
but this weekend is looking f@#king awesome for australind sat noon on wards sunday even better so any one keen 4 a 12km downwinder all on flat water on the way we stop at the river mouth, a bay, a 1km jetty parralel to a sou'wester, i usally take 3-4 hours to go from end to end. cars are safe locked up at either end, and a couple of cold beers at the end to top the day.
the estruary could hold 100+ kiters easily so all are welcome.
Anyone interested?

Would have loved to come down to Australind, but too short notice for this old fart.

Hope you have the wind and great time tomorrow.

I didn't know that Australind is a bit of a hike from Perth. Keen to check it out soon.
