Can anyone help out with supplying a jet ski and rider for the Coolum Downwinder? We need 6. Will be able to pay for fuel for the day.

There was no jetskis last year.

When are entry forms coming out?

First day of School holidays will be pumping, especially after QCS.

Am so hoping it is like 30+ knots. That would be so good.

You can get the entry form from the kite festival website - click on the off the lip pic..

There were jet skis last year - supplied by the surfclub and a IRB. We have the IRB again, to follow up at the end but no commitment for jet skis.
They are a real hassle to get - people say yes but then pull out...
What are we to do?? - if we continually run the race without the regulated number the council require they are bound to crack it.
So please if you know of anyone that may help..... let us know.

imo jet skis are more dangerous to have than to not. making sure everyone is skilled enough to make the distance on their own is sufficient if your near the beach the whole way anyway.

lol.
That's gay.
Six jet-skis hanging-back upwind spewing out 2-stroke pollution to asphyxiate the kiters.
Nice.
And I bet any money a jet-ski will run out of fuel on the day and a kitesurfer will need to tow him in.
Who is rescue-ing who ?

How does the council come up with this stuff,What magic formula do they use to make decisions on kite surfing?

I'd contact the Jet Sports Club of Brisbane, the hold the racing series at Redcliffe and surf races at both coasts. From what I hear their members are generally the more responsible jet skiers who keep away from other water users etc. If you can't find a contact number I can ask a mate at work who used to be their secretary.

I called up a mate of mind who jet ski's with a crew off the Tweed Bar Qld and some Tow-in's, who might be keen to riding the swell than puttering in the bay (Redcliffe) I forward their details to you.

Yes, you have to have AKSA membership for public liability insurance purposes - the same as any organised contest in Australia.

I like the question on the entry form

"Can you swim?"

LOL - I think you've picked the wrong sport if you can't swim.

Maybe that's why they need 6 Jetski's - in case there are a few non-swimmers in the pack...
