GREY coloured kite lines should be banned and immediately taken off the market.
Why ?

Because when self-launching (or even during an assisted launch),
you can't see the damn things, mainly on those dull grey overcast days. (Like today was.)
If I mistakenly rig the lines wrong, I can't see the problem until it's too late,
and then my kite will psycho-launch into the helicopter death spiral.

PS. I don't use the kook-proof connector method so the visual thing is important to me.

Anyone experienced the same problem ?

Regards,
slave.

calm paulio, given that we have had 6 knots and 89% humidity for the last week or 3 doesn't mean that all is lost.
at least we can clearly see our grey kite lines.
i've just put out the crab pots for entertainment.

Youre kidding right?
Just in case you are not, definately colour code and kook proof your lines!!!
Before launch, while there is still a bit of slack in the lines, reach up and grab your front lines and pull them, this will help you see that they are connected to the LE of the kite and that you do not have twists.

I reckon white lines are the hardest to see anyway! But I don't have to worry because I always use kook proof now, since I was convinced that I am a kook.

Try walking down the lines starting from the kite whilst sliding the lines in your fingers. You should be able to follow the front lines from the kite all the way to the centre of the bar which will confirm that the front lines are connected correctly.

In my experience haste or laziness are the main reasons lines are connected incorrectly. Take your time and follow a consistent system to connect the lines (the exactly same method EVERY time you fly).

Think about it ! If you connect them correctly then they can't be wrong ! Simple hey.

It is ridiculous to blamne the color of the lines !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont think hes blaming the actual colour of the lines.

Hes blaming the people who made them grey.

i find it a good idea to rig the kite then depower the lines so you can launch it unhooked. that way if you have messed it up you can let it go (assuming you have a leash on). Once it flies right then you can hook into the chicken and power on again.

Great answer Zephyr,

This is exactly what we teach in our school. It's impossible to get hurt if you aren't hooked in on launching.

Love ya work, keep up the safe attitude!

Everything in Kitesurfing that is grey should be banned.

Wave's already banned grey matter.

Why can I imagine you sitting there with four dishes of red, green, blue and yellow food colouring with your four line sitting in each dish slowly becoming permanately 'kook' proof...
