RC, I know you are dissappointed with your failure to go kiting today.

But what a useless thug you are to threaten me with violence.

At 3.30 today off Cottesloe it was blowing 22 to 32 Kn. Excellent sailing on my 7m fuel.
I spoted a blue kite being launched infront of the phone box (good one pal). I was immediately concerned, as initially the kite was positioned significantly down wind for launch. The kiter sorted out his bearings, launched, and immediately started being dragged down the beach, and lofted.
I yelled to people on the beach to grab him, and eventually 2 of his mates did (1 holding him did not stop his down wind passage). However he was still not in control of his kite, on a narrow strip of beach, next to the road. He guided his kite out over the water, and I sailed over to grab it if need be. By this time one of his mates was considering grabing one of the strings, and I yelled out not to, and yelled at the kiter to pull his safety.

His mate eventually got the leading edge in his hand and all was fine.

I left the water and told RC that he should have pulled his safety. He basically told me to bugger off unless I had something useful to say. His kite was a 15.5m airrush lift, all floppy for want of a decent pump up. I offered my opinion that his kite was way too big, that it was too flat, and that HE SHOULD HAVE USED HIS SAFETY AS HE WAS ENDANGERING OTHERS. I noted he did not have a AKSA tag, as required on this beach. If ever a kiter needed 3rd party insurance, it was this clown.

His reply was that he was an experienced kiter, that there were better ways to bring your kite down than the safety, and THREATENED ME WITH VIOLENCE.

So RC, just for the record, let me inform you
you are a dim witted thug.
your actions threaten my access to a beach I have kited for 6 years, long before fools like you arrived.
you had brought your non kiter mates to the beach to see how good you were. I promise you, they did.

Oh, and thanks for asking, I had a great sail.

What a tragic person ...........1 in 1000 is a pure and simple idiot.

Hey Gasman, I kited over on Dirk Hartog Island with Lurch last week, you would have loved it....very beautiful and weird in a special kind of way.

Hope you are well. I was watching you out there today...it did look like you were having a ball.

Hope you get over your unpleasant encounter from today.

Hey Gasman
You should have put your foot thru his kite and told him to leave. Clowns like that are a waste of space on our beaches.
Good to see everyone is getting wind, on a better note. We've gone to 45 kts this arvo, took the hound for a walk and watched everyone get ready for the cyclone, kiting was not an option.
Hey boys good to see the wind is on, DHI was radical and as Gruez said, it had a weird feeling (probably big *uck of tigers!!)but cool.
See you at Kitestock.
PS. Whats the web address.

Hi Gasman,

Spent quite awhile watching you today trying to work out whether to take my 8m out. Havn't used it yet so thought might baptise it in a bit less wind.

How did you find the wind strength on your 7? Looked like a fair bit coming in at times.

Poor Relie was that you on the yellow bow kite?

I had a similair issue today, being a Newbie I was downwind of all the more capabable kites - yet this one bloke not only tried to intimidate me by yelling on the water, but also abused me when the wind died and I could not get going. I finally got him to back off when I started getting agro - at which point he made a concerted effort to stay away from me - even when I waited on the side of the shore to have a few words with him on land.

The funny thing is he was the only a-hole pulling jumps (not even good ones) to close to shore, the ral kites at Dolls Point where upwind and further out. Legend in his own lunch hour - middle age wannabe

Pretty dissapointing because I was trying to stay out of the way and he had all the skills and power to keep away from me. I guess even in a great sport like this you get muppets........

Shame about the d**kh**d but it was exciting out there yesterday arvo.

Nice seabreeze driven waves.

Afterwards the swanbourne reading showed 22 gusting to 32 kts and increasing. Later it went to 34 kts.

I was out on the 12 m Turbo diesel (yellow and s**t brown) and its the first time i've had to use the cleat to depower significantly.

Thanks to the guy on the Airush 11.5 who helped me launch and land - the true kiting spirit.
