I know this may have already been brought up before but i can't find the answer i need.

I am planning a trip over Jan to Perth and have an 11m Slingshot Diesel but wanted to know if i needed anything smaller like a 7m? Heard from one guy it blows quite hard in WA.

On the flip side is it worth lugging my 17.5m Machine all that way? Do you get many light seabreezes in the summer or light evening rides?

Thanks!

you'll be happy with the 11, forget the 17.5. The wind will be around 15-25 knot range and will be kiteable about 20 days in the month. The other days will be troughed out so get a surfboard for the world class surf in perth

I know- silly question about the 17.5m

What about the 7m? I can buy one for about $350 second hand here (o5 Model) and for that money i am considering it if there are days it picks up between 25-30 knots. How likely is that?

Cheers for the replies already by the way.....

Yep, you will get out on the 7 probably 3-4 times at least, especially if you ride a surfboard.

I come in at 90kg and have been out in 25-28k on my 10 SLE. I reckon it could handle more too.

might be a session early tomorrow morning too, winds are looking good so far.

Depends if you want to unhook or you want to stay hooked in. The main reason people chang down sizes is to still be able to unhook, for me I could almost ride an 8m most days of summer and Im about 70-75kg and if I wanted to stay hooked in I would be good with a 10m... Most peoplehere have a kite smaller than 10m...

9m bow
128-132 twin twip
6'1 surfboard

and as much sunscreen as you can carry as your skin will get fried like a Big Maccas burger.

Bring the 17.5 if you plan to camp, works great as a tent.
