sounds like a bit of a worry you are going to surf big waves but dont know what board to take...

My brother rips on his Airush Converse. The few times he has let me take it out i have had a blast. Worth giving it a demo. comes as a 6.0 and 6.2. there was an shorter model available in 06. foot straps are easily installed and removed.

Lucky bugger to be going on such a long kiting holiday!

If you take 2 boards make sure you pack them together really well- possibly so they only look like one board ... I took my kite gear in one bag (marked Golf) and my surfboard (6'6") as well in another normal surfboard bag and f..kin' United Airlines charged me us$85 excess for having A surfboard every time I checked in anywhere with them (I went to the Carribean and Hawaii)- one time this bitch at check-in in Orlando (FL) asked what was in the golf bag - checked it and then wanted to charge me another us$85 when she saw I had a kite-board as well (so that's a total of us$170 !!!)- I just spat the dummy at her and called for the manager !!! It was 'Thanksgiving' and they still didn't want to give me a break...

Also many of these 'no frills' airlines (connecting flights to small islands etc...) will charge us$50 + if you have a surfboard with ya ... be prepared for this rip-off **** they are doing ...

Avoid United what ever you can do(no meals given even on 5~6hr + flights across the mainland, not to mention the geritric flight attendants) and check with whoever you do book with about their excess baggage, surfboard and change dates policy ... United also charged us$75 every time I had to change dates and another ****ing us$80 I think it was, for changing a date to a frid/sat or sunday departure ! ... nitemare - NEVER again ...

PS: Also flights in American territories - you are not allowed to lock your bags - if they are locked and they want to check them they reserve the right to break the lock so they can have a look inside (happened to my mate - when he arrived in Puerto Rico the lock on his surfboard bag had been cut off and placed in an envelope explaining they had been rummaging thru his stuff !) U.S. homeland security reserve the right to check your gear WITHOUT you being present (after you've checked in you have to carry your check-in bags to a special X-ray area and leave them with them) ... if that's not a intrusion into basic rights i don't know what is !!! Get ready for a nitemare travelling thru U.S. airports - the whole check-in & security procedures drive you nuts after a while ...

Hi Moritz,

I own the SRT 5 "11 and love this board but would not recomend it for travelling, just picking the board up often places a ding in the board, ( they are not very robust), but are a great all round size, however dont be tempted to go smaller than this.

For powerful Surf larger than double overhead you will want something longer than the SRT , so best to go for at least a 6 "2 or LONGER Underground surfboard with inserts.

Anything under 5" 11 really is too small for wave riding , might as well be on a twin tip

Yep the Converse pretty hard to beat ... but, was speaking to the cabrinha rep and apparently they're going to get their boards together now and will put out a kick-arse waveboard sometime by mid-year...

In maui, Jimmy Lewis are the ones for sure ... bout us$700~750...

If you need to ask on this kook filled Forum about surfboards,you can't be surfing "Big waves"

Wasn't that 5'9" the sickest thing when you went on the last trip to Brazil. I think it was called rich or something?? by the way the cash converter idea is the funniest one i have ever heard...i don't think echostorm has met you Moritz!
