hi jon,

id say thailand..as it recieves wind rom the southwest monsoon during july/august, especially the westcoasts.places like phuket might be good.
the east coast of malaysia has a small kiting community but i dont know about the wind there during this time of the year.i know that it gets good during the north east monsoon. i know that th beaches are reallly wide and is suitable for begginers.there is even a school there.
hope it helps

I spent my honeymoon at phuket in August a while ago.
Any windsurfers were packed away and no wind anyway.

Patong beach maybe big enough for kites but who knows what the conditions are like after the tsunami.

try windsurf vietnam in a google search it sounds promising.

let us know what you find out.

best winds

conditions in phuket after the tsunami are fine, most things are back to mostly to normal... still a little rebuilding being done

im going to bangkok next week, apparently not really a good time up there, maybe towards august.

Taiwan is a terrific place to kite and has a very dedicated community who will often help you get to the beach and back. July-August are usually reasonably windy - the only off times are September and February-May.
