Tears can form from solar degradation of the fabric. The action of the sun can break down the material to the point that small holes develop in the canopy and, after time, a tear can form. Keeping the time that your kite lays on the beach can help limit this as well as stopping wear from constant flapping and sand abrasion.

Saying that, it really depends upon the quality of the fabric as some kites last years while others can develop faults after only a couple of seasons.

Its more like 100 .At least its not as bad as the speedo lazer suite .$500 and its in the bin after 10 wears.Goes on sale for punters after the olympics .Every kiddie must have one if they want to break the u 10 freestyle record,yikes
