Hi yatjac01,
You can use a kiteboard behind a boat and it is fun, but it is no where near as good as a wakeboard. The big problem is the rocker. A kiteboard is designed to go upwind and be efficient at edging at speed, it doesn't need a nice rocker to utilise the shape of ramp of the wake as we use the kite to get air.
There is little chance you'll break a kiteboard behind a boat. If heavy riders like me struggle to break them falling from 30 feet during a kite loop, then landing from a 6 foot air behind a board will do little to it.
Have fun with the kiteboard but you'll perform better with a wakeboard and boots behind a boat.
Good winds,
