There are no kiteable waves in Aitutaki, in Raro there are surf spots but are sheltered from the wind.
The reef in Aitutaki is way too shallow usually 4-5 inches at high tide.
plus if you knew the number of BIG sharks there were looming on that outer reef.
the reef is a coral wall and drops from 0' to 2000' + instantly
I lived in Aitutaki for six months last year.
Mike lee who runs one of the tours there is a fairly nice guy, just don't let him know you have cigarettes or he'll be smoking them for you ha ha.
Aitutaki is an awesome place to be although i would say a month there is a bit much there is not an awful lot to do.
I was planning on running trips there this year but other projects got in the way, bit late in the day now to get them organised.
But for sure i will have something epic arranged for next year.
If you are heading there in July it will be busier than normal as they are having a kite competition held there to promote kiting in the cooks.

Can't remember exact months as they blended into one really, but from memory june was a bad month with only one week with wind.
july aug sept were cranking most days over 20 knots.
remember these are warmer tropic winds so you'll need around 17-18 just to get riding.
the trade winds blow in an e - se direction. watch out for storms as they are like the finger of god kind of stuff, if you experience a cook island storm you'll never have experienced anything like it.
damn awesome lovely place though.
i want to go back every year.
