Hi Guys, long time reader first time poster - i've enjoyed all the info on these forums. I was hoping someone could tell me if they have had any success carrying their kite gear on a motorbike. The backpack is pretty straightforward but what to do with the board - strap it to your backpack? There is a guy in the states that makes these pegs for motorbikes to carry boards, has anyone seen or used these?

If you have a twinnie I know with the Naish bags they have a couple of straps that allow you to attach your board to your bag. I wouldn't like the drag of the wind on the end of the board that sticks above your head!

I saw a postie type bike in Sydney the other day that had a surfer peg style set up on the back rack. That setup would probably work well for a shorter twinnie. If you have a more sports style motorbike you may be in for some trouble. If you own an old school Vespa PX you could get a front luggage rack. They are gold (Rode a Vespa from London to Italy a few years ago with my backpack on one)

i did an overland indo trip with kites and surfboards on a motorbike. double board bag on the side, and kites in my kite bag on my back. worked a treat. the board rack was just two 'u' shaped hooks, the ones you see in kuta, bali.

Carver Surf Racks make a rack specifically for any motorbike with a luggage rack. The rack keeps the board on the side and the side arms are removable.

I was looking at getting a trailer for my bicycle so I can just pedal down to St Kilda from Prahran. I might look into getting one of those hook racks instead!

Also I was wondering how it goes actually riding the bike with boards strapped on the side - does it get sketchy when its windy? As its always going to be windy when I have the kite gear strapped on haha!
