Hey all, just a heads up on the next radical innovation in extreme watersports: KITE KNEEBOARDING!

By combining the power of a kite with the radical-ness of a kneeboard (same as the ones you towed behind your boat in 1992).

Will allow such tricks as the unhooked 360 degree spin and extreme sideways flip!

Coming to you soon in next seasons latest flouro colours

HMMM.

You can't use a normal knee bored. you have to get a special kite specific knee bored with a flatter rail to get upwind but this means it will have less pop. they also need to be more flexible to absorb the chop.....blah blah blah

Dont worry about all the technicalities - All the major companies are developing the gear. They will all have ''kook-proof" ergonomic knee pads (so you cant accidentally get the board backwards or upside down), ''bomb-proof'' construction, perfect flex, carbon fibre core.
I think Naish scientists are working on a new range of flouro colours that are so bright you have to wear polarised sunglasses to look directly at them.

Sooooo hot for 2010

Not quite a chair but the principle is the same.

Geepers Im soo excited it makes me want to pass wind

Any ideas why kneeboarding didnt Radically take off ?????

Unlike being towed behind a boat with 'downward pull' - the kite will only make you want to extend your legs ohh the skill in landing a 40 footer let alone your back soakin up the pressure rather than legs...

Fun for a laugh but kneeboards are designed for low speeds.. not much extremely rad about that

Just lean it up against the Radical 'stand up piddle board' and youll feel right at home.

There is one common feature to riding kneeboards and airchairs that stands out in mind from the good aul days in 92 - the super hard face plant you could get if you landed a jump wrong.
In fact you didnt even need to jump an airchair to get it, just ride along near the top of the leg for a bit and sooner or later you will go a fraction too high, hear a gurgling noise from below as the foot came near the surface of the water and bang forward you go.
The beach start for the kite version would be fun to watch though

i love the kneeboard. Back in the day there was no better ice breaker than taking the young non-waterskiing bird you were keen on for a double kneeboard. once you got them up after a couple of goes it was time to start spraying them in the face and pushing them around. I'd like to say 9 times out of ten but let's say 4 times out of 5 it resulted in me spraying them in the face and pushing them around l8er (if ya know wot i mean nguk nguk)

Why kneel when you can stand?!?!

Don't understand what the attraction would be...busted knees perhaps???

Kite kneeboarding eh? I am sure I have seen a post somewhere on the interwebs that a disabled guy does it as he does not have full use of his legs.

And as for the single ski thing it has been done and there is a reason you don't see them on the water these days.

Some say it's just to stupid to contemplate. Others say that if it doesn't sound stupid it's not worth contemplating. So, Yes I did contemplate. And yes I did something stupid. Dead right about the boards not being ideal when falling from height. I have personally received a valuable lesson whilst knee boarding over a 2.2 meter ski jump.

The first attempts went quite well and may have even looked a little stylish. However on the 4th run I decided to go unstrapped and hit the jump at 30mph with the intention of gracefully diving into the water after parting with the board.

The board had other idea's. In short, contemplate all things. Only do the ones that make sense. Knee boards and kites I think may fall into the doesn't make sense column.

But hey, I'm just an idiot with a limp so don't listen to me.

Im still only learning kitesurfing so i was out on the weekend playing around with my surfboard and i ended up kneeboarding on it,
it was quite enjoyable, there is some people out there who just cannot get the balance right to stand and this could be a fun alternative
