Problem with mag reviews is there may be a reluctance to sh1t-can a kite (or at the very least provide an honest assessment) because the mags have an inherent interest to not pour poo over the revenue-providers - ie the advertisers.

But wouldn't it be great for there to be a "Wheels" Magazine-style "Kite of the Year" review and awards. Could have different classes for the "kite of the year". Best:

- Freestyle
- Waves
- C
- Hybrid
- Bow
- Hang Time
- Jump
- Upwind

etc.

So c'mon, kite mags, get some balls and start providing a decent review of all kites. I am sure sales of a "Kite of the Year" edition would go through the roof.

Never going to happen sorry to bring the bad news. Every mag out is biased in one way or another, not saying its a bad thing its just the way it is. No one has tried all the current kites, everyone has different tastes. Instead of trying to make up your to mind by reading crappy reviews, demo them its the only way to go. You just have to think when you try someone elses gear it's never as good as what your used to riding. It's soo subjective why bother I reckon, most shops or riders on the water are normally happy to give you a quick go on thier kites, it's the only way to be sure.
