MY son is getting into kiting, at 15yo and only 60Kg I am trying to decide between and 8m or 10m Cab SB. looking at under 20knts.

Any experiences here ?

I'm 15yo and weigh 50-55kg, I ride a 9m REV which has equal power to a 8m SB3, can hold to 20+!

I'd probably go with the 8m. The swithblades are fairly powerful kites so he should get a way with the 8. besides i'm sure he could he could use your big kite when it's light and you could use the 8 when its windy.

08 Switchblade 3 or 09 switchblade IDS? The IDS has way more depower than the 3. If it is a SB3 I'd go the 8m as a one kite quiver. He should get going in around 14kn. If it is an IDS, a 10m will end up his light wind and most ridden kite. Will get going in 12kn, but will have to sit out the strong wind days esp as a beginner. If he takes an 8 IDS this will end up his small kite.

I Agree with Pearl - If its an IDS - Go the 10... If it's not, go the 8... My brothers are 55kg's and ride 10's all the time...

hi mate

i weigh 60kg and ride a 10m SB3. its not too powerful in 20 knot winds when i am fully powered up.

10M, as your sone will tend to kite in lighter winds and he will have adequate power with a 10M. If he got an 8M he would always be walking back upwind and that would be very frustrating to a young begginer!
Also being 15 means he will be getting a bit of a growing spurt soonish, just keep feeding him!
I think an 8M would be a mistake unless you live somewhere windy.

Cya and

Goodwinds
