Hi there, I coming to Perth next week for holiday to visit friends who are non kiters ( are surfers). Staying in Scarborough about 800m from beach. Can you tell me what the set up is , are there any kite centers where I can hang out and store equipment ? I am into freeride freestyle ( twin tip) I prefer flat water, kickers small waves. I only seem to find mobile schools online. I will not have any transportation . Can you get about ok on public transport? Any one want to hook up ? I am about in the week, doing road trips on weekends. Look forward to hearing back, Cheers .

If you want to hook up I'm keen.

I'll buy you a weekly Perth transit pass in case you need transport. Bus is your friend.

I'm sorry but I can't fit you and your gear in my pulsar.

Hope this hook up is NSA as I'm not into drama.

No staying over also.

If you have your own website then you must be famous?

Send stats and we'll go from there. You say Aussie Aussie Aussie...

I say oi oi oi!

Welcome to our resident nobs aqua...lol.

Give 'action sports' a call if no one responds to your hook up request. Talk to Darren or Todd, they will set you right. Their shop is right there to.

You'll be able to walk to the beach at Scarborough if those who you are staying with are not too far inland. But it's a long, exposed bit of coast with chop and swell, not to mention an often dumpy beach break, favoured by downwinders and surfers. To get flat(tish) water you are going to have to trek to Pelican Point, Swan River, Crawley (12km south-east), while genuine 'glass-like' conditions are at beach 3, Woodman's Point, south of Fremantle (23km south of Scarborough - just Youtube it). Don't get fooled - there are three beaches on the point. This location is a must for your trip. Lagoon-like glass is at The Pond, Rockingham, another 30mins drive south. However, most of Perth's coast is OK for TTs anytime, but when it's a howler the wind/swell combo kicks in. Public transport is 'iffy' in Perth. Cars rule. Ok if you or your destination is on any of the four train lines, or the once-every-two-hours bus is on your doorstep. If desperate, you could be OK getting whatever bus goes from Scarborough, down West Coast Highway, to Cottesloe where you can have a crack at the Dutch Inn area, 500m south of Cottesoe Beach Groyne, that has small areas of flatter water and small, mushy breaks/kickers about 70m offshore.
There's buckets of kiters about that, if you ask, will probably give you a lift in the 'Hookup' section of this site. Enjoy!
