Does anyone know if anyone is organising Kite Stock this year?

November is last year.... i beleive the original question was about events this year

it should never have been up to waksa to run such an event. WAKSA is a governing body, not an events organiser outside of state titles and what cauncy and co did with midwest windfest is exactly what is needed and should replace kitestock .

It's a massive head f...k to be honest, not the event but dealing with the bollocks of local government/ shire/ lazy pricks that are paid good salarys inc cars / fuel and all the other perks , but basically just facilitate, and don't give any assistance to those who want to bring event or organise events , we just about broke even from the windfest financially, but the time me and dave whettingsteel , rob n Kat, put in , you'd think twice about doing it again,
It'd just be great to bypass all that crap and have a gathering of shops kiters etc without all the regulations, saying that I'm happy what we did in s zero budget from local council,

Mick and crew you did a great job i was really impressed with how much effort you had put in and what we got for our $$$. I reckon taking it back to Dongara will make it easier to organise. Yeh dwinder was great, did a nice one tonight with nob all swell but great wind, from dongara to 7 mile beach, great run and still fun sets, the northern dwinders imho are more appealing than the old cliffhead run to dongara so doing this run and further north is certainly on the list, masses of kiteable terrain??

Getting the large crew into spot to start would be a logistic/enviro horror show. Too many cars and crew would be parking/driving though the dunes and shredding the beach. Not a good idea for an area we are trying to protect from becoming developed.

It's awesome that you WA crew have a few events. I think everyone really appreciates the effort that goes into it. It actually will make a difference to tourism long term. Councils don't see it and just make it complex.

I spoke to Mick (aka cauncy) about the battle they had with local authorities etc. It sounded like a major head FK if it wasn't for Infigen the local wind farm coming on board with sponsorship Mick & crew would've been outta pocket big time. As far as i know Mick still put in some of his own $$$$.

Would be good to see it based at Dongara as that's also a great location.

Why cant a heap of mates like 200 odd like the windfest just rock up to a beach or camping area and do a down winder and have a freestyle comp ?

What I wanted, but whoever organises it is buggered if someone gets injured or even worse drown/ dies,
You may get those participating to sign a waiver but good luck with that when the shidt hits the fan, this drove me nuts to be honest as I'm totally against over regulation , it's a killer , you have a great sports event which would bring people to town, benefit local shops and buisness , the process of compliance makes most pull out instantly, add to that a shire that then does f..k all to assist both financially or generally as we had for the windfest,

You put 70+ people (14 cars) in one spot anywhere between Coro and Drummonds and it's going to be a bad look for any event.

Shire of Irwin used to chase up waksa asking if they were running the old kitestocks each year. They see the value that an event like that brings to town and were supportive, even with $$.

The strangest Approval was with APRa amcos.. wanting waksa to pay royalties for playing music off an iPod!! I think we gave then 150 bucks and they went away. Kings of passive aggession those guys..
