Going to South America/Caribbean in about 4 months. Any information on kiting there would be really helpful, i have vague ideas, but am having trouble finding relative info on weather and spots. I would love any stories, info or internet links that i could use. And please, no F?*cking shark stories.

There is a company that runs a kite surfari somewhere in Brazil. They take you to the spots, assist with downwinders and give you tips and advice. All the accom is included and maybe meals? If you don't have your own wheels it sounds like a great idea! I'm not sure of the name though... I'm sure a quick google search would find it.

Not sure about the East Coast or Carribean but I do know that the west coast has the same season as Australia. You may be heading over 6 months early. Chile and Peru have unbelievable wave set-ups...there is a place in Peru that has a cross-offshore left that goes for in excess of 1km. Super strong currents though.

Caberete (activecaberete.com) - Dominican Republic gets consitant (>25 days a month) from June - August. Waves, flat water, partying. + there is so much room that crowds don't matter (unless you kite right at kite beach)
Cumbuco - Brazil guarantee's wind from June - February. If there is no wind, then you don't pay for your room. Supposedly up there with the most consistant in the world.....and Brazilian girls
Margarita Venezuela is a similar thing.
I have not been to any of these myself, but am planning to live in one of the places above in a year and a half, so have been researching a bit...

manta, equador, a micro climate called the humbolt current means cross shore winds at 15 to 25knts almost everyday till december. really friendly people, great bunch of locals, contact humbolt kite school. i went for a week, stayed 4. and if your lucky a few different whale populations go by. many locals have had close encounters.
