Going to Samui in April, any advice about wind conditions, the best places to stay etc. Can you rent or buy there or should i take my own equipment?

Most kitesufers leave Koh Samui by Feb or Mar since there's no wind! Go to Hua Hin instead if you like to kite.

Here's KBA website; they got several kite shops throughout Thailand. You can rent gear from them as well.

Watch out for jellyfish!

Hua Hin is the most consistent place, but you might get a few days elsewhere. Nearby is Pranburi, which is less crowded. There are lots of shops now. I'd recommend avoiding kiteboardingasia, however. They've given the beach a really bad vibe. Greed and kiting just don't mix.

Went to Hua Hin a couple of years ago during my honeymoon. The airline lost all my gear. It then blew for 3 days straight. When my kite arrived it stopped. Then the next day when it was time to go to Phuket it started blowing again. Got to kite for 15mins for the whole trip.

I checked out the local kiteshop. They will hire gear but its really expensive and you needed an IKO rating otherwise they wanted to make me do a lesson which was more.

The winds are all thermal so they are very consistent and go all day and into the early evening.

There were also a lot of jellyfish in the water as well, not sure if they were stingers.

Good place to go if the airline doesn't loose your gear. I went in early April.
