Hi

I got a buddy who's been raving on about kite surfing and he's gotten me very curious.

I was looking around for a directory of instructors but didn't see anything obvious. Perhaps some of you could me:

1) What is the general cost for lessons?
2) What are the typical things that I would be taught in the first few lessons?
3) Any recommendations on who to use/not to use? What makes them good/bad?
4) Any other pointers that you might be able to give for a complete noob?

Thanks in advance everyone

Hey Cobba,

Thanks Dave.... the site is www.kiteboardingschool.com.au

There is tonnes of info in the FAQ's and also other pages. Most reputable instructors or schools are charging around the same amount, it will come down to where you live and who is closest more than likely.

You've already got the full list from the team at WAKSA, follow their link and see who can help you.

Cheers and good winds,

Had a lesson at Pinaroo point with the guys from Kiteboardingschool.com was fantastic, really proffessional, I've done a bit before but these guys were really good, took their time, didnt rush you. Can really recomend them. The headset idea is great too! no looking at the beach wondering what the hell the instructor is waving there hand for, you can hear them saying everything in your helmut!!

Alo try Rob Gannon at Mullaloo. Has been teaching for ages and a lot less kite traffic where he teaches.

I too can recommend Rob Gannon. He is an excellent instructor, who not only provides top class tuition, but also organises events for his students so that like minded (and skill-level) kiters can get together for BBQs, downwinders, beers, etc

Ian Young taught me when I was working in Perth. His lessons were great - on the back of a jetski in the middle of the Swan river, no concerns about hitting other people.
The only problem is that I'm now a Flysurfer convert which is something of a rare phenomenon here in Sydney.

Kitehard also does walking lessons, you really should consider these as part of your kiteboarding program, nothing will make you appear cooler on the beach.

Walk tall, kite right, rock on.
