Hey dose anyone know how the conditions on Oahu compare to Maui for kiteboarding?

Missus wants to go to Oahu but im keen to go back to Maui as I know its good there!

We are thinking around May-June

Any feed back would be great.

Thanks

Kailua Bay top spot for kiteboarding but you need a big kite , 16 mtr or 12 mtr.
Flat water with reef breaks about a kay off shore.

Moks on the North Shore great spot wind is stronger and you may ride anything from a 7 to a 12 mtr kite.Great waves with flat water on the inside of the reef.

Look out for the turtles they are all over the place.
Wind is definitely more consistent and stronger on Maui.
But in saying that when we went to Oahu the guys had been kiting for 30 days straight non stop.

Nice island though had a great time and would definitely go back.

Don't take your kiting gear on your honeymoon Luke!! It's bad luck.

im in oahu at the moment im staying in a house a few blocks back from Kailua Beach park. the wind today was about 20kts the wind seems to be pretty good all year round.

there is not any good surf exept for on top of a reef thats about 2km off shore and it only seems to work if the wind is from the right direction and pretty strong.
A local told me that the downside of the reef is that it is only a few feet under the surface and very sharp so i was told not to ride straight over the top of it but there are still nice surf on either side of it.

The beach has a pretty steep drop off near the lanch site so it gets deep pretty quick. The water is also very choppy until you get out towards flat island which is a few hundred meters up wind behind the island is realy flat and there are some nice kickers as well the downside there is a limestone reef about a meter under the water here as well so it's fine as long as you dont crash badly.

i havn't had a chance to kite anywhere else yet because ive only been here a few days
