Kitebeach close to the Princess Margaret Hospital
Hi everyone,
I am a medical student from Austria doing a placement at the Princess Margaret Hospital and I am searching for an accommodation and it should be close to the hospital and close to the next Kite beach (I am a beginner) or close to good public transport system in the direction of the Hospital or the Beach.
I would be so glad if I could get some good answers, so that I will be able to connect my placement with Kite surfing!
Cheers Philipp

are you going to have a car? if so you could base yourself in scarborough which is approx 15 min drive to PMH and is on the beach and you can kite there. Near PMH you can kite on the river at pelican point but its not an ideal spot not much room to launch and gets busy with windsurfers and other kiters.

Ok

Firstly when you get here get a car. Make this your priority.
Check out www.thewestclassifieds.com.au/
$2-3000 should get you a decent enough van/car to get you around
Public transport in Perth is crap don't rely on it for longer than you have to. Plus with a car you can get out of town and have a look around whilst your here.

Then look at a decent place. Some suburbs around PMH are subiaco, wembley Nedlands, Mt Hawthorn, West Perth. Check out Google Earth or Google Street view. Good place to look for a rental is www.realestate.com.au.
Personally i would recommend Fremantle area. Although you are away from work Freo has a good vibe and is close enough to more spots than you can poke a stick at. again check google earth.

Sometimes people look for house mates here. Go to thew general section at the top of the page, post an ad you might get lucky.

Hospitals sometimes give their interns cheap places to stay explore this option if you can. Its worth it.

Anyway good luck hope it works out for you.

Hi Philis,

I agree with PR. Get a car if you can and you will significantly enhance your experience by reaching faster your local kiting spot in Perth (be careful of numerous break-ins at some spots) and by driving out of town at one of the remote spots along the few thousands of km of the Western Australian coast (then keep in mind that you will be very far from good medical assistance).

Enjoy WA!

Fred

Hi all together thanks for your massages, I will arrive in Perth at the 10th of Nov. and doing my Placement in PMH, because I will leave already at the 28thof Dec. and because I am a Medical Student and not a Dr. I will be unable to buy a Kite especially when I think about the cost to transfer my Kite back to Europe
For this time I will search for a accommodation close to the Hospital and if possible not to far away from a great Kite Beach!
I know that the room rents a not as cheap as in Europe, but I looking forward to find a good place to stay over flatemates or gumtree.
Thanks for your answers!

I will come to Perth next week, unfortunately in Brisbane was the last one and a half month not the right wind for a 12m2 Kite and a beginner....so I had not much possibility to improve my beginner Kite skills, but I hope it will change in Perth.
I am still searching for a good spot for beginner without any hazards, for me it’s not important if its beautiful or not, just a safe place and not far away from Subiaco (place where I am going to live) or close to a train station!
Cheers Philipp
