Kiteboarding Australia (KA) needs a new logo
April 2013

Dear (Adult Membership , renewal due 26 Jan 2015)

Kiteboarding Australia (KA) needs a new logo Contest is up and running on 99 Designs and will be accepting entries until 10:27am on Sunday 7th April 2013.
The link is here,

What we are asking for is if we have any Budding designers in our members and you would like to enter you could win and get payed to do the design as per 99 Designs payment plans.

The format for the comp is as follows and we will be asking all members to be part of the (4) Select a Winner section

While our designers are brainstorming ideas, here i€™s an overview of the process:

1. Qualifying round
Identifying your favorite designers
In the Qualifying round your contest is open to all designers and your aim is to identify designers that you’ll want to invite into the final round. As designs come in you should star rate or eliminate each one. The more feedback you provide the more designers and entries you'll receive!

2. Select finalists
Narrowing down the field
When the Qualifying round ends at 10:27am on Wednesday 10th April 2013 you'll be asked to select your favourite designers to continue to the final round.

3. Final round
Creating the perfect design
In the final round the designers will continue to submit ideas and you'll need to provide detailed feedback so the designers can really nail what you are looking for.

4. Select a winner
Making the hard decision!
Once the final round ends you'll be asked to select a winner - you may even select multiple winners. To help make the decision we recommend you create a poll and ask your friends and colleagues to vote - it's a great way to get a fresh perspective.

5. Handover
Receiving your design
After you've selected a winner you'll move into the Handover stage. Here you'll sign the copyright agreement as well as finalise the design and all the files you require.

Kind regards

The KA Board

Maybe a boxing kanga on the underside of the sail in green might be another nice touch instead of the 'ka' or a Southern Cross

Needs to be something easily tattooable.

Did this one up real quick, kept it Green and Gold to give it that real aussie spirit. Let me know if you need a High-Res for the final copy.

cheers,
Alex.

p.s. The yellow "A" represents Uluru (Ayers rock), the heart of our great land. Whilst the green symbolises the lush coastal environment we all enjoy everyday.

Gee not much notice to us Kiteboarders. It's too late to register with 99 designs. I tried but not enough time.

Anyway I think that we need to stay true to Australian Sport, our Aussie Aussie spirit and of course our green & gold sporting colours. Here is my amateur design. Note that it does not discriminate against kiting disciplines (ie freestyle, racing, surf etc).

Open it back up!

It takes more than a week to design anything good, otherwise we'll be stuck with some basic design from the 90's.

Come on whats the hurry?!?

Absolutely - we have been around since the turn of the century!!
Why not let designers have some creative time.
Surely its worth more effort than most can find in a week.

I like how the current top rated design is on handles, haven't seen them since the turn of the century.

From a design point of view this logo looks great but please remember what the logo is representing (Kitesurfing, Australia, Sport, National Sporting Body).

This is the design that a few people (non-kitesurfers & mostly non-Australians) are voting to be the logo of our National Kiteboarding Body. You can tell that it's designed by a non-kiteboarder because it has 2 handles instead of a bar. The designer is also probably non-Australian because they left out Tassie from their original design until they were instructed to include it.

Kiteboarding is a rapidly growing sport that almost made it to the 2016 Olympics. Eventually it will be an Olympic Sport and our national kiteboarding body (KA) will represent all of us kiteboarders not only to the Australian Institute of Sport but also the rest of the world. Do we really want a rainbow coloured or USA coloured logo? Take a look at our other national sporting bodies like Cricket, Hockey or Netball.

Our logo will represent us kiteboarders both nationally & internationally and into the future. Do we want to portray Kiteboarding Australia (KA) as a body of inexperienced amateurs or a professional body that represent our world class kiteboarders along side our other well respected sporting bodies?

C'mon Aussie C'mon!!!!!

tazza101 are you the contest organiser?

Perhaps I should have pointed out the sarcasm of my previous post. I think it's ugly, breaking the shape of Australia up into colors that aren't quite states is odd, but the kiter seemingly wake skating on handles is intriguing.

As has been pointed out, plenty of talented Australian kiters would have been interested in contributing a logo design, however the contest organiser, didn't give enough notice for them to register with 99 designs and come up with a draft. Now they have narrowed the field further and as far as I can tell only 1 Aussie kiter is left, so it's not 'C'mon Aussie c'mon, it's c'mon windy wocket c'mon.

Edit: C'mon Windy Wocket and Luluvic, C'mon

or

Open the logo contest to Aussie kiters again.

My fiancé is luluvic and she has spent plenty Of time around kiting, doesn't kite herself by is a top shore crew for me. She is also australian and is a graphic designer.

Great logo's are simple, think quicksilver, McDonald's, Nike, apple to name a few.

Easy to print on any media and to can customize a colour for events or disciplines. Say race kiting is red, freestyle is blue snow kiting green for example.

Kiss. Keep it sime stupid. Works for me.

Sounds like bs to me.
Anyone who's spent a lot of recent time around kiting wouldn't even consider two handles.

But oh wait, pretty colours.

Kiterboy if you took enough interest to have a look at the website you'd see that the designs by my fiance that I was talking about dont have a kiter in them at all.

Can't agree more about the two handles. Not sure my race kites would go so well with handles.

Not to sure what BS your talking about and what colours. Did you even look at 99designs? I'm assuming you mean imaniar's colours that were posted on seabreeze. Agree quite different and bright but I think my message summed it up quite well with saying I prefer simple is better.

I Like Windy Wocket's designs #36 and #37.

Designs are simple, without a graphic of a kitesurfer.

When I look at imaniar designs I'm reminded of the USA Baseball and Basketball logo's.

Not that original really.
