Hey guys I am a new member to seabreeze and I am about to travel around Europe for a few months. If any one could tell me a bit about kiting in Europe or some spots they know it would be a great help?

Cheers Taylor.

Hi there,

I kited in Carnwall (UK) - it is Europe! and France last year and I must say Cornwall has some of the most beautiful beaches and greatest kiting spots I've seen. The surf is awesome and beaches very wide and clear. Go the Atlantic! Places that spring to mind are Gwithian, The Bluff at Hale and Watergate Bay. The Bluff is awesome as you can roar in and out a creek into surf, get sick of that and hoon back in for the flat stuff.

France was pretty iffy - way too crowded - that part of the med is hit and miss - mistral makes it howl and you don't have much in between. The beaches are pretty narrow so not too great for launching - I was told of this great spot in L Ciotat and all it was was a cliff and rocks underneath! The local kiters get a mate to hold the kite on top of the cliff, launch and get them to wait for them to land... Mad! I kited at Hyres in france and La Ciotat - there's a good spot at Marsielle too might be worth a look.

There's a big kiting community in Barcelona Spain and a few good spots but I didn't make it.

Like jkiter I saw a lot of kitesurfers in Turkey - I only went to Feitheye - I think that's how you spell it but yeah lots of kites and windsurfers. Great spot to paraglide too!

The biggest problem I had was flying with my kit - a pain in the arse - my 12 metre boxer, board, wettie, harness, pump and bar weigh 17 kilograms with the ''golf'' bag. The golf bag was a waste of time too they don't fall for that one anymore. So just be prepared to pack jocks and you'll be right. I've never been checked for weight on cabin baggage so that may help.

If you goto the UK make sure you go see Cornwall it's a beautiful place - it's the only place in England that I could live!

Tarifa is good, bottom of Spain next to Gibralter. Great winds, but try to avoid weekends, busy with Spainish, who will head straight for you and wait or rather force you to give way, and then give you abuse for just being there. Dont be fooled if you are in or at tarifa end of beach, Ive been there and no wind at Tarifa but 5km along coast, which you can see, they were out on 12m kites well powered.
Cornwall is lovely in the summer, but go there in winter, its BLOODY freezing.
Or try Egypt, moon beach etc, wind 300 days a year, and summer 40c as well.
Wherever you go have a good trip, lucky sod.

Or visit me in sunny southend in Essex in the uk, 3hrs after high tide, 3ft deep water and flat for 1.5km x 6km, and all the turds you can want floating down from London.

was in tarifa 2 days ago, SICK!!!!!! huge crowds though full of muppets learning to kite, can get scary. Nearest camp ground is 5km out of town, and a lift back into town is inpossible, took me and my girl an hour to hitch, but the beach is right out the front, so stay at a "pension" back packers for a few nights, cost you 30 euro a night for a private room, till you find an apartment
