Hi, I am planning to go to Mui Ne for a couple of days in Feb 2010 and I was wondering if anyone knew of a good kiteboarding school (that doesn't cost a small fortune) to get lessons. I have a training kite (2.5m) so I have a little bit of experience with kite flying but have no experience in the water. cheers

I've been to Mui Ne a few times and Jibe's is my favorite place there, period. It's a kite / wind surf shop run by a French bloke named Pascal (married to a Vietnamese gal). They also own and run a great little hotel called Full Moon Beach Resort, a few doors down from the kite shop on the beach. Both are in the link above. You need to plan (shop around) for your 4 hr shuttle ride up from Ho Chi Minh. The ride is pretty sketchy... cows, chickens, mopeds, and tour buses all weaving together. I recommend a seat belt, 3 beers, an ipod and a bandana. You'll have fun for sure.

Storm....it use to be Airwave's, run by an Aussie guy. Nice place at the Sailing Club though.
Gibes is OK, one of the biggest, look around, there are others that are good, even some local guys have started schools, good to give the under dog a chance, as it is, if you go with a bigger school, you will have a local guy for most of your lesson anyway.

Try to stay away from the crazy russians schools though.....no seriously.

Use the search tool and you will find heaps on Mui Ne
