3rd party Liability is generally covered by your home contents insurance. If you compete or participate in events then you need Kiteboarding Australia insurance which has some first party personal accident insurance also. I don't really compete but have both as KA is cheap and supports kitesurfing.

How do they actually check in the UK that you have insurance or are there penalties?

what are the laws about buying insurance in another country? i know poland has super cheap insurance and they pay out. but as an aussie if i was to buy it what happens?

Not sure - but i think you have to be a resident of that particular Country for any monumental insurance claims..

I heard Poland brought out special lawn mowing cover just for you - they keep changing the name of it though, but the same s h ! t cover is always there underneath.
