Hey, my work colleague (who isn't a kiter) just came into work after a long weekend and was telling me about a guy who was kiting at Bondi Beach on Sunday just gone.

Apparently he was out for around an hour. No-one approached him, there were people on the beach taking photos but other than that it wasn't that busy. Does anyone know who this is and why they're kiting in a banned area?

Caelah...
what you're saying is bizarre as... I happened to be in Bondi on sunday.... I stayed there from roughly 10 to 3Pm, between Bondi and Tamarama (gosh, those Aussie names!) and believe me, there was no kitesurfer in sight! Bondi beach was packed (the guy would have had zero space to rigg!), the swell was pumping (and the surfers ripping it! (what I'm saying is the guy would have had to be bloody good to get out in that size of swell...It really was big, and not an "Emilie size big", like... really big!!!)), I really can't see how a kitesurfer could have gone out there... plus it was N/NE and the wind wasn't coming inside the bay>>>>>?????
Was chatting with a mate that day too who told me kitesurfing has been strictly banned in Bondi, already a while ago, and that any way it only was working on easterly winds, which wasn't the case on sunday... As he lives there, I will ask him if he's heard of anything but it sounds odd to me...
(no offense sweetie... but are you certain your colleague is positive it was a kitesurfer??? just doesn't seem to add up to me according to... everything. the wind direction, the swell size, the beach packed, the rescue jet skis and boats everywhere...hm.... bizarre bizarre!!!!)

Hey Em....i've just checked with my work colleague and found out that it was the day the southerly kicked in which was Saturday and the kiter was out around 5-6pm.

I'm asking more out of interest to see if it was a local or a packpacker/traveller because any locals would more than likely know that kiting has been banned at all the eastern suburbs beaches for a long time. Despite that we do get random appearances happen with both kiters and windsurfers but if one person does it another may think....ooooohhhh I'll go out here!!

Oh I've got your kite for this arvo!

OK, Saturday makes more sense as the swell was only picking up then... And the howling wind would have wiped everybody away from the beach.... even tho, that southerly would have been just plain nasty in Bondi Bay!
There again....Bizarre, bizarre...
Know few people living in Bondi, will ask around, just out of curiosity... (it's intriguing...)

Will grab my toy this arvo, cheers (we're on love, got the thumb up! ), and work on getting those "house keeping" ideas out of your brain!
