Melbourne has some good spots, Altona is probably the better for the eaterly winds.
From there you have the all time hot spot, Inverlegh and Sandy Point near Wilsons prom.
Then further around Victoria its not much chop.
Into NSW you have the likes of Merrimbula and surrounding areas.
Then further on, around Sydney you have Wollongong, Newcastle and Bortany Bay in Sydney.
All from Sydney up to Brisbane im sure you will find hot spots also.
Maroochydore, Caloundra all just past brisbane will offer heaps of go im sure.
Further North up to Townsville will be great spots.
Townsville you will have to try out Palerenda, about 10 mins out of Tville north. Thats where all the locals go.
Then between tville and cairns there is more spots then onto Cairns where thiere is also plenty of open space!
Enjoy the warm weather, im in Warrnambool just 3 hours west of Melbourne, cold water, 5 3 wetsuits and hoods and boots! But we are starting warm up, getting some 20 - 30 SW winds, 6 - 8ft swell, loosen up!!!!!

I think you mean Inverloch not Inverlagh, which is a great spot for beginners in the lagoon, nice and shallow with flat water. sandy point is not a place to learn though, the prevailing wind cranks through at over 40 knots much of the time and is offshore at shallow inlet
