I live in Malaysia and will be in WA around end of December this year for a kitesurf trip.
I have planned to stop at Freemantle, Cervantes, Geraldton, Kalbarri and finally Monkey Mia.
Around Freemantle I understand that SAFETY BAY is a good spot, while THIRSTY POINT in Cervantes appears to be a good spot too.
As regards to Geraldton, it seems like POINT MOORE is a good spot.
Kalbarri, no idea ?
Monkey Mia, I have read in the forum about Denham, small lagoon and big lagoon ... I am a bit confused to be honest.

I would very much appreciate any tips that would help me to firm up my trip and identify kitesurf spots.

Also, at that time of the year, is it recommended to kitesurf with a shorty (especially in Safety Bay) ?

Finally, what shop would you recommend the best in order to buy a new kitesurf harness (Mystic warrior or similar) ? Where can I find the best prices ?

sorry dude not sure where is good in kalbarri... it has awsome waves though so i guess any beach :)

im not quite sure what a "shorty" is? if you mean a wetsuit... then no dude u really wont need one in december bordies and rashie is usually enough

you need a mystic harness go to www.choicekitesurfing.com.au they are in hamilton hill close to fremantle speak to a guy called greame he will sort you out with a harness and he stocks mystic .. i bought one last week :) great harness

Not sure what you meant by your 3 words ... Didn't you like my post ? "many thanks" is not polite enough for you ? If that is the case, then don't bother replying frankly; that is not cool and I don't expect that kind of attitude from a kitesurfer (that makes me think of agressive windsurfers !).

Thanks Kitecrazzzy for your brief post. I was starting to worry about how agressive Oz kitesurfers might be ... which really was not what I had in mind.
Even in my response to Gruezi (by the way Spacemonkey, your friend's name is Gruezi and not Greuzi ...) I can't find any agressivity, but Spacemonkey's reply definitely is. Rather be a (funnny) clown that an (non funy and space) monkey...

By the way, what do you mean by big lagoon, PLEASE ? Where is it located ? And why do I need a boat ? (not shallow water right ?)
What about the sharkie place ? Do you mean that there are plenty of sharks our there ?
Last but not least, when you say that the place rocks around Denham, do you mean that there are lots of rocks in the water and there is a need to wear shoes ?

you've got to question some peoples personalities when they open a topic that's clearly marked as a tourist question and then say some load of bs and pass it off as them not being bothered to type a real reply.

I'm pretty sure that you are quite a decent kiter Carbine. Even think I've seen some footage of you doing a sweet loop that someone posted on here one time. Respect for that. BUT, lose that attitude. There are those of us that have travelled extensively, not only for kiting but for the enjoyment of experiencing different cultures and alike. The greatest part of travelling is the opportunity of meeting others and getting involved in their way of life. If everyone adopted your attitude then the enjoyment of travelling would be lost. If you don't ever want to leave your beach then fine don't, but remember it's not actually YOUR beach in the first place. Sounds like a serious case of a big fish in a small pond to me. Safer that way isn't it!

OK, understand some of you guys don't want to see tourists bothering you on your nice spots (that reminds me of the "Point Break" movie). As I said, fair enough; but you don't have to reply my post at all if you have no intention whatsoever to give good tips and if you think that my post is a total waste of time.

You guys might be really good kitesurfers and no doubt you kite 20 times better than I do (not difficult as I am barely intermediary !). I just thought that kitesurf was one of these sports where people are cool and are willing to assist others in any manner (tips, but also physical assistance in case of problem, etc ...). Now I am not sure anymore.
Respect is not granted because you are born in the country where you live in.
That's my view anyway. I have visited more than 45 countries so far and to be frank I am glad that people didn't act like respect was granted to them because they were the locals in their country; most of the time they were cool and ready to assist, in the same way as I would be the first to help while being in France and facing a situation where a "tourist" needs help (whatever sort of help).


Anyway, I am sincerely sorry for generating that wrong and poor debate. This definitely was not my intention. Won't bother you anymore on that forum. No worries.

Mururoa Atoll is rumoured to be nice at this time of year, bit of a hike from Perth but seeing as you're down this neck of the woods, worth a look.

Take your mask and snorkel for those windless days, there're lots of unique and unusual looking sea creatures to look at. You'll have a wonderful, warm, glowing feeling for days after.

In two years here I have experienced nothing but a positive attitude and genuine kindness from Australian Kite Surfers. I have been helped out of tricky situations more times than I care to remember.

Guys on here like to beat their chests as it makes them feel good and manly. Its a whole world of difference where it really matters, on the beach.
