Hey

Was wondering if anyone knew of a good Kiteboarding "coffe table" style book of images of kiters and locations world wide.

Not looking for those classic "How to" books with pictires of kiters back in the early 2000's where kites were 2 line, but one of locations and pics???

Does one exist or should i pack up my life to create one???

Cheers

I have the Kite and Windsurfing Guide to Europe. Its an awesome coffee table book. I think they are bringing out a Global Guide soon as well. The book is pretty pricey, I think it cost me something like 60€ !!!

That's what I have. Its droolingly good, and they are bringing out a Global guide soon, or so the Europe Guide says.

If you go to the stoked website they have extracts from the book in PDF format so you can see what it is like.

Nice one azwaa - Well being a designer you could lay out a template and people can fill in the blanks in their local area -Inc kite schools in area / wind condition / beach conditions / time of year / shops near beach / general information etc... PDF the document and then create a web site (or seabreeze can add a link after help and shop on the top row????)

Pics always welcome from anyone - Im happy to colate / edit all information and create it into a readable source....

Creating an online / one stop search source for all kite spots in australia from people who kite in these spots will make it very usuable to new and traveling kiters in australia. I have seen this work for online Rock climbing guides (second passion of mine).

And YES - If this does get off the ground and you supply info for the guide, you name will be credited......

Making a good, original web site...
Rule #1: Somebody has already done it. or ?

http://www.sessionlogs.com/

If you wanted a quick way to make a very decent book you might want to try a combination of www.flickr.com and www.qoop.com. You could do bookstore quality in an evening.

You can make your own hardcover books from the common collection of images. Possible copyright issues if you were selling lots of them, but I don't think anyone is going to mind, or know, if you used their picture for your own, personal coffee table book.

yea both good ideas - but http://www.sessionlogs.com/ calles melvile Dutchs point??? and does not even list one of australias top kiting spots Woodman point or safety bay????

This is the reason why i am floating the idea of a australian kiting site put together by locals in their area all in one....or better still a handy guide.

Hey im not in this to make $$$ but heaing to the east coast later this year and have no idea on where to kite - yes i can ask locals - but what if you do feel you can ask locals???? (yes there are pricks out there who wont give you the time and place)

Hi,
I have pics in the upcoming Stoked guide, it has taken them years to collate the info..... big job.
V interested in having a dedicated printed Aus guide though. I have been working on an online guide for my website (which gets hits from all over the world) but it is a big job and am only in early stages.
Evlpanda - sorry to be pedantic...personal use fine but yes you will definately have copyright issues if you sell any copies. Please support the photographers that support you and your sport, there aren't many of us doing this professionally and it is v hard to make living out of it here in Aus (sigh, about to open another tin of baked beans)

www.sessionlogs.com looks to be very popular in NZ. Only just being picked up in Australia now.

Of course seabreeze could add a 'Locations' section as a feature - laurie?

Brilliant idea panda, a clickable map of oz, with google images, pics, local knowledge tips, best wind direction, local kiteshop, etc, etc,

Come on Laurie, get onto to it.
