Hi all. Work is sending me to Qingdao, China from June through August and I'm wondering if it will be worth hauling my gear along. Has anyone here done this before? The hotel I'll be living out of is walking distance to a beach called "golden beach"... Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Honestly have no idea what to expect weather wise or even if the water is too polluted and I'd come out of it with superpowers or something...

Sorry to disappoint you but QingDao has nearly no wind. Kiters from QingDao go to:

1. Hainan Island spots - Boao, Sanya, Dongfang

2. Pingtan Island

3. Qidong, Nantong ( Shanghai Spot)

4. Weifang

these spots so far I'm familiar with..

That's a long way to have to go to find wind...

It's also worth checking out Xiamen and Taiwan... bring your big kites though and the water pollution is pretty full on :(

I'd love to, but work is going to keep me stuck in Qingdao the whole time.

If you do get time off Dalian is worth a look at too. For the wind, not for anything else.
but I'd say forget about kiting and find a good BBQ or hotpot place that has cold beer...
