Does anyone know what the kiting is like in Dubai?

Winds was 13-17 knots when I was passing through there last week. Water and land temps are bloody hot - like 33+ & 48+ degrees respectively. There is a kite school there so you might find something on Google. Most people leave Dubai on "holidays" until October when it starts to "cool" down about 35 degrees C during the day.

WOW
Dubai is awesome I used to work there! Ya gonna love it!! You can go snowboarding and kitesurfing the same day. Lots of people start coming back home to Dubai from their 'summer' oversease holidays holidays around about now until October because of the blistering heat. Many Dubai Arabs actually leave Dubai around June/July for the Gold Coast and live in the Versace condominiums to beat that heat. Around this time you do get good winds though! The beaches are AMAZING! white sands...high silicone content...and no water run off from the desert sands means no tainted water. It's so crystal clear! In many places thought it's not uncommon to get Offshore winds..but there are many places that are shallow with sandbars lining the bay. Try and see if you can kite at 'jumeirah beach' because that's not out of town. You'll have to pay attention to where you kite in Dubai because many beaches are private and you have to pay a small fee to enter.
Try:
Kite Beach
Taxi Directions - Umm Suqeim 4, behind Wollongong University
long stretches of undeveloped sand at the most southerly end of Jumeirah named after kitesurfing activities in the area. For surfers these beaches offer unbroken expanses of ocean, free from breakwaters.
It wont cost you much to go by Taxi to this beach from most hotels.

Offshore winds in the morning & onshore in the afternoon. You need to take your biggest kite, nothing less than a 16, ave wind speed is around 12knots.

thanks guys for your help. I heard rumours that Dubai is a good place to buy cheap kites. Are those rumours right? People go there to shop, but maybe not for kites?
cheers
