Guys,

We have an access issue at Lancelin and would like all of your help to ensure we can maintain access.

The Shire of Gingin has recently completed a study, the recommendation from this study is that kiting will be banned everywhere except North Point. Obviously this is not acceptable and WAKSA has had discussions with Shire of Gingin and is currently lodging a late submission. We are requesting that we continue to maintain access to the point at Eddies Island (southern point between back beach and windsurf beach).

It is important, especially while these maters are being considered that we do the right thing. So what we need is for kiters to stop launching from the grassed area near the windsurfer hire. While this may be convenient launch it is dangerous, very gusty and gets in the way of other water users.

Beginners and less experienced guys, please use North Point ONLY.

Intermediate and advanced guys when using the southern point please be super safety conscious and stay out of the way of other water users.

Any comments or suggestions about the above please send to [email protected] .

I have no problem launching from the point. the problem is lancelin is a mecka for kiters from all over the place .we need signs i think ian.And visitors need to be told. it would be very dissapointing to lose such a perfect kiting spot.

We are working on signs, have to sort wording, so as to ensure no one launches from the grass and only experienced guys kite from the south point.

Any suggestions please send to [email protected]

Thanks,

Ian

man thats such a shame.....lano is a great spot and dropping down to eddies to launch is no hassel and should have been mandotory for all kiters.

Funny thing i was up there with the wife and kids a few weeks ago we drove to eddies point and the kids and the dog jump out of the car and played on the beach, untill someone came up and said to the wife, "Do you know that the kites are dangerous lying on the ground with there lines out, you shouldnt have you kids here" well its all nice to let us know its dangerous but IT is our responsiblity to make the beach safe Wouldnt be better to have you lines wound up and only unwind them prior to launch?? I understand that you are only trying to make the beach goers more aware but remember we are the lowest of the low as beach user's

I can now see how comments like this made to beach goers will restrict kiting even further, with the big increase in kiting numbers and the novality factor worn off its time we took responsibility for our own actions and start educating other kiters on the beach, I didnt say anything to the person this time but will in the future.

Hope things work out at lano its one of those all time spots....

North point is the area in line with Lancelin Island, it's a great flattish water spot, but doen't really have access to the main wave breaks.

You would have to go out the back a long way and then do a major upwinder to access the waves.

Yeah hip is coming good Mike, have been out 5 times on kite so far, mainly at North Point Lancelin, it is across the dunes from Northend caravan park, quite nice spot actually. yeah just sussing out what's going down with PHG, only doing 7 sessions per fortnight so no biggie, everyone seems super positive about the sale, so we will have to wait and see, anyhow take care, if you are interested in going up to Lano with us to kite for a few days from next thurs pm and fri pm I have accom, drop us a line.

I guess We've all been holding our breath hearing and reading about Kite bans around the globe, and now it is catching up to us here in OZ. Recently in my area (Caloundra Passage-Sunshine Coast) We had to show cause why we shouldn't be banned because of closed water regulations ruling the channel. NO FREESTYLE I mean, really, its not a word I would use in the same sentence with Local Council. 6KNOT SPEED LIMIT!!(may as well walk) NO SUDDEN CHANGES IN DIRECTION!!One tack only???
What brought this on was the local fishermen bitching about not being able to get a good run at the sand bar.Which can be treacherous at times.
Point for discussion-AT WHAT POINT DID WE BECOME OUTLAWS????? (better?)
And WHY???

Those of us who aim high should do so fully overpowered!!!!!!!!!

When and why did we become owtlaws? Good question. You mean outlaws I assume.

Possibly when we stopped being a novelty and started scaring/hurting people, ourselves included, and damaging property.

mistake of kiting at his beach

the really angry dude who shouts - sorry screams abuse and

will go well out of his way to try run you down (this is dangerous)

I havn't been up to corros for about a year now so I dont know if

Kite numbers have increased to a point where he cant windsurf there??

but there were only two of us and about twenty of them and soooo

much space it was a joke

Have been kiting Coro regularly on weekends and have seen no evidence of any hassels. You are always going to get the odd tourist who camps there for a week and thinks he owns the place. Bevo- the guy you are talking about has actually bought a kite so I don't think he will be abusing kiters anymore. When kiting Coro- launch downwind in signed kite launch area and stay clear of main windsurfing area when it's crowded. Thanks, Tim (GWSC)

hi,
it does not make sense to me to assle kitesurfer when this guy is only here 3 days a week and to know that he bought a kite with no good safety system and that he will learn by himself at 50+. what a good exemple he is trying to show !
