Hi,
I might be working in Broome during may/june this year and am hoping to be able to do some kiting on my days off. It seems that the westerly trade winds wouldnt be blowing at this time of year so Cable Beach wouldnt be the best option. Are there any consistent winds that are strong enough at this time of year? Is Town Beach a decent spot?
Any info would be appreciated.
Cheers

I was there for a couple of weeks in June 2009.
Kited Town Beach twice on strong morning Easterlies. This is the best you will do.
Smallish beach bounded by point one side and mangroves the other.
Huge tidal range. The locals will tell you about the big croc but I still have 2 legs and 2 arms.

... May /June is dry season so sou'easters, and so town beach is the only go direction wise. Big tides and at low tide, there were millions of rocks in the mud with sharp bits of coral, cut feet! When cable beach is on, go there! Wind rarely goes with the waves so get used to it too. Not one of my favorite places!

Mind you, like most places, when its on, its on, you may luck it in!

Good luck!

Hey town beach is really your only option this time of the year can be good at the right tide, wind is very gusty and variable i rode a 9 thru to a 15 last year probably one in three days are kitable and it only blows for around 3 hours in the morning but well worth bringing your gear.
