Can somebody who knows, please explain the relationship between the ISF [International Sailing Federation] and kiting?

I have read a comment on SB just now from someone suggesting that the ISF is "kiting’s ultimate peak body" and for the life of me, I'd just like to know if this is pure BS or if there is some relationship - formal or not, or if something is in the pipeline...

regards

The International Kiteboarding Association (IKA) is part of the ISF [International Sailing Federation] - see internationalkiteboarding.org/

The IKA is trying to unify the sport by setting common agreed competition rules that National Associations, KPWT and PKRA use.

You're right Wannabe - anybody know what the "A" stands for?

Their website says "International Yacht Racing Union was formed in Paris, France in 1907. Now known as the International Sailing Federation (ISAF)

IKA, just barged in and told everybody what to do basically, and if they didn't conform they would be sue'd.... pure douche'yness.

So, in recognition of those that know more about international kiting/sailing/poley related politics, a further explanation as to where AKSA sits in relation to ISAF/IKA etc please...

Just so this doesn't degenerate into another biatch session, I'd like someone to tell me/us/kiters in general is AKSA affiliated to IKA or any other similar international organisation.

It seems a tad strange for one international organisation to 'decide' for all of us...

Thanks Ian for your post.

common agreed competition rules

kitesurfing comps have always lacked this.

in a few decades we should see fair competition.
